MONDAY 17th/
MARCH 2014 “St.PATRICKS DAY”
The
forecast for the week is looking very good with clear blue skies, sunshine and
no breeze at the moment, the temperatures is are in the mid 20s; its one of our
favorite times of the year as it’s so pleasant and peaceful down here on the
‘Costa Del Sol’
After
breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice ( Oranges half-price this week!)
Weetabix, toast and tea I’ am up in the office as you can see on the WWW. –
typing the Blog, answering some E-Mails, reading various on-line newspapers and
checking out Facebook etc;
Yesterday
evening after our ‘Roast Lamb’ supper which we really enjoyed, I will call into
our butchers this morning when we are out for our walk with the dog to thanks
him and show him the pictures! Tonight we are having, you’ve already guessed
‘Cold Lamb’ with a fry-up of leftover vegetables and the rest of the
‘Boulangere’ potatoes.
While we were out this morning we bumped into a couple Dave & Sue who live in Sabinillas for six months of the year, they come walking up to the village so we had a nice chat as we were stood by the new passage way, from a different side, which is progressing slowly - see the pictures above.

The late
film last night was “ Four Brother’s” from 2005 with Mark Wahlberg,Tyres
Gibso,Andre Benjamin and Garret Hedlund in the title roles; it’s the story of
the four adopted brothers, two white and two black who come home for the white
mothers funeral and find out that something was not right – it turns into a
moving ‘Vigilante’ story as they attempt to find out the truth.
Before this
we watched the second episode of the ‘Great Continental Rail Journeys’ with
Michael Portillo on TVE2 ( Spain’s BBC2)
- this week he was in Germany – some of the routes that he went on
across the country I remembered from back when a was child of the age of 8/9
when my father took us on holiday; then nearly all the trains that we went on
were still steam as we traveled around Europe for over ten years. One of my
first ‘Food Memories’ was when we had “ Hungarian Goulash” in a restaurant opposite
the cathedral in Cologne ! I can still taste the sweet Hungarian Paprika to
this day !
My dad who
was great long distance racing cyclist had been in Germany back in 1938 and had
toured around the country through the mountains, the industrial ‘Ruhr’ – the
seaports, down the Rhine and through the ‘Black Forest’ My mum used joke and
say that he was the only ‘Tommy’ to escape from the ‘Fuhrer’s clutches!!’ His
full name was Thomas( Tommy) Henry Sexton – while in Germany he bought the
latest German ‘Agfa Karat’ folding camera that he took on all our holidays, I
was always fascinated by it as amongst many things it took automatic pictures
of the three of us! Many happy memories.
More
stories tomorrow about my dads past exploit’s and cycling background as I was
brought up on bicycles from an early age; I had a hand-made drop-handled racing
bike with gears at the age of six!!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
