SATURDAY 10
th/ AUGUST 2013.
After a
little lie in this morning we had our normal tea and toast, then I made a new
bowl of ‘Ensaladilla Rusa’ for the weekend; I’ am lost this morning as I’am
usually watching ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ but it is on its summer break.
Brenda is
pottering and I’ am upstairs in the office on the WWW – one e-mail last night
was from a lady, Di that we met up at Bar Rojas a year ago, we became friends and
took her out to Estepona and to her flight back from Gibraltar, she is over next
week so we are going to meet up.
While I’ am
talking about Gibraltar I’ve now downloaded a web-site showing the frontier
crossing live with four different camera angles on the queue’s which is
sponsored by the Gibraltar government – very helpful for the future, we have
also decided that we are going to approach the border from the other direction
when we are meeting or dropping people. As for joining the queues to go across
that’s for another day! Watch this space!!
SPORTS
UPDATE;
A fairly
quite weekend of sport as it’s not until next weekend that the football kicks
off. Both the ‘Premier League’ over in England and ‘La Liga’ here. Over in Germany
Bayern Munich eased to a win on Pep Guardiola’s ‘Bundesliga’ debut – a
comfortable 3-1 in over ‘Borussia Monchengladbach’!
Today it’s
the Fourth ‘Ashes’ Test match up in Durham , meanwhile over in the USA at ‘Oak Hill –New York ’ it’s the ‘US PGA Golf
Championship’ Tomorrow at Wembley it’s the ‘FA Community Shield’ game between
Manchester Utd and Wigan .
This
evening for supper it’s ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with sautéed Mushrooms and Onions,
finely sliced Green Beans and crisp twice-cooked Chips, Brenda is having a
Tomato salad on the side and I’ am having a fried Campo Egg on the top of mine!
Last night
after all the surprise excitement of the ‘Feria Queen’s’ parade we sat down and
really enjoyed the ‘Lubina Meuniere’ before watching two films, first the 2006
movie produced and directed by Clint Eastwood “ Flags of our Fathers ” about
the true story told in flashbacks of the iconic rising of the ‘Stars and
Stripes’ after the WW2 battle of ‘Iwo Jima’and starring Ryan Philippe and a
cast of thousands; then we caught the end of “ The Day After Tomorrow ”from
2004, a science fiction disaster drama about the World entering the second Ice
Age and especially New York freezing over with Dennis Quiad,Jake Gyllenhaal and
Ian Holm – the special effects are spectacular!
Thought for
the Day; See above.
