WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY 6th/ 7th JUNE 2012.
Well we are settling back into life in sunny Manilva; the weather is very hot and sunny and getting warmer over the weekend, today it is 33/35 degs at the moment. On Wednesday lunchtime Brenda had an appointment at the hairdresser’s at the top of our street in Calle Mar; she was trying them out as they are much cheaper than her regular hairdresser down in Sabinillas and we have had some good reports, next time she is going to have her highlights done – watch this space .Meanwhile I made an “ Estofado de Ternera ” – ‘ Beef Stew and vegetables – “ Scouse ! ” for dinner. In the afternoon I caught up with the Blog and some E-Mails as Brenda was catching up with the washing and ironing before we had our early evening ‘ Cocktails ’and after supper we watched the news on TVE1.
Today, Thursday, Andy lent us his car this morning so we could go over to our bank in Estepona and then on the way back call at the garage to see how the car was going on; Andy had just come off his part time night porter job at the Manilva Green Apart hotel after doing his full time 5-12 waiter’s job down in Duquesa Marina !! When we got to the garage the car was ready as promised, very un- Spanish, the main man Pedro has done a very good job and at the same time fixed and checked some more small jobs ready for the ‘ ITV – MOT ’in November; we also got the ‘ Local’s Price ’- so a good result and the car is back in our parking spot in the small square behind the house. We then got on the Skype Video to Old Colwyn which we had arranged with Tim and Thea last week and spoke to Jo on her 21st birthday ! We can’t believe it – it only seems like yesterday that she was baby and we always remember her first day at school – now she is starting in October in her third year at University in Liverpool after she comes back from a summer job over in Cyprus! Jo – have a “ Helluva ” birthday – we know that you will !! Tonight we are having Steak and Chips for supper and will then watch the ‘ Classic Film ’ The pictures below show what has been happening in the village over the last week; the new square and underground car park are taking shape, the Mosaic Mural is nearly finished and the update to the children’s play area is well on the way, they have also started work on the new outdoor pool as it had developed a leak and later in the summer there is a major National Competition taking place. At the moment the council workmen are setting up in Calle Mar the bunting and lights ready for the Medieval Market which is taking place on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Watch out for the pictures.
Thought for the Day;
Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.
