MANILVA START OR THE WEEK.

MONDAY/TUESDAY 18th/19th JUNE 2012.

Well the weather forecast for the week and into the weekend is sun and more sun, getting hotter; the sandals are out- no socks! The shorts are in use for both of us! Water consumption has gone up! The Mosquito killers are plugged in! Sun block for my fair skin is in use but I do have some colour on my face,head,arms and feet which is now permanent ! The fans are all working when required ! The menu is changing slightly ! The walks are shorter and keep to the shade ! Shower times are changing also – either very early or late ! The roof terrace is in use every evening as the sun moves round ! We are in our ‘ Pre-Summer Mode ’ as we still have the full-on weather in July and August when it s the nights that get a lot hotter as well ! Then it’s time for the ‘Vendimia ’ festival on the 1st/2nd September !! The council have arranged lots of social events over the next few months including all the regular festivals, the ‘ Feria ’in August and once again the street fashion/fandango show. At the same time there are also all the religious processions taking place here in the village and down in Sabinillas. So it all kicks off with ‘ La Noche De San Juan ’ this Saturday – the Village Band parades along the front in Sabinillas, the ‘ Blue Flag ’is raised for the beach award, Music and Dancing to a live and loud ‘ Combo ’ Band and then the burning of the Tableau and the firework display at mid-night followed by more dancing and singing into the wee small hours ! On Monday evening for supper we had cold Chicken with New Potatoes before we watched the football ; Spain beat Croatia 1-0 but did not play very well and Italy beat the Irish 2-0 so they both went through to the next round.

Today we are having an at home day as the rest of the week we are out and about on the Costa del Sol ! This morning we all had showers, not at the same time, Brenda, then Cheta and then me ! The picture below shows Brenda with her new hair style and Cheta looking good as well. This morning I made our supper for tonight, ‘ Albondigas ’ ( Meatballs ) in a rich Tomato sauce with Button Mushrooms and Spaghetti. We are then going to watch the final group games – England v Ukraine and France v Sweden – watch this space ! We will then know the line-ups for the Quarter Finals games over the next few days !

PS; England beat Ukraine 1-0 with a Rooney goal and and Sweden beat France 2-0 with the best goal of the group stages scored by Ibrahimovic.So the Quarter Final games are;
21st June - Czeck v Portugal.
22nd June - Germany v Greece.
23rd June - Spain v France.
24th June - England v Italy.

PPS; This afternoon we have been watching the first day of Royal Ascot live on the BBC Sport page.The first race of the day was the ' Queen Ann Stakes ' in which the wonder horse ' Frankel ' turned in another spellbinding performance to maintain his unbeaten record which now stands at 11 victories from as many starts ! He was 1-10 on favourite to win and won by 11 length !! See the picture above of him with jockey Tom Queally in the saddle - One " Helluva " Horse !!!

Thought for the Day;

When you confront a problem you begin to solve it.
