MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 16th/ 17th JUNE 2012.

After a little lie in we had our regular Saturday morning breakfast; Brenda’s famous Poached Eggs on Toast before we went for a short walk as it was very hot and sunny start to the day. When we got back we had an easy day at home doing nothing – what a luxury! In the evening for our dinner we had the Entrecote steaks that we bought on Friday from our local butcher; cooked pink and served with Sauté Onions and Mushrooms, Grilled Plumb Tomatoe, crisp Chips and sliced Green Beans – the fat on he steaks was delicious – sweet and very tasty and the steaks melted in your mouth – we called into the butchers this morning and thanked him! It was then football time; the Czechs beat Poland 1-0 and in a surprise Greece beat Russia 1-0 and so went through to the next round with the Czechs.

On Sunday morning we got the roast on the go; Chicken with all the trimmings and Brenda’s now famous vegetable selection! After freshening ourselves up we went up to Bar Rojas for a cool drink sat under the Sonbrajo – Lumy’s Gazpacho is just right for this time of the year and served as a drink as it should be not as a starter – goes down very well! We then had the Paella as it finished cooking and so it is at its best. After our Roast Chicken dinner we settled down to watch the two matches which are on at the same time so I have to ‘ Flick ’between Channel 4/5 – my favorite pastime much to Brenda’s annoyance ! Portugal finally and Ronaldo in particular managed to play better and he scored twice as the beat Holland 2-1 and went through to the next round – Holland had lost all three of their group match’s and are on their way home with their tails between their legs! Meanwhile Germany who won all their three group games, beat Denmark also 2-1 and progressed to the Quarter final rounds at the same time. The late film was “ Two Minute Warning ” from 1976 and is an suspense and action thriller that takes place at the “ Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum ” during an American Football game – it star’s Charlton Heston,John Cassavetes, Martin Balsam and Beau Bridges. The late/late film was one of the “ Rambo ” series “ Rambo 3 ” with of course Sylvester Stallone and Richard Crenna ! Next week by our standards we have an all action week planned; on Wednesday morning I have my two yearly ‘ Prostrate ’check up at the Costa del Sol Hospital over on the far side of Marbella, then we have to call into our bank in Estepona on the way back and then pick up some ‘ English ’ essentials from Supersol in Sabinillas.In the evening there is a concert in the new theater of the Wine center performed by the music students of the School of Music. We are doing our regular shopping on Thursday as we are out on Friday for Brenda’s birthday and in the evening are going out for a fish supper – Haddock, Chips and Mushy Peas at out local ‘ Chippy ’ down on the coast road past Sabinillas. On Friday morning we are finishing our shopping down at the local market in the village and then after putting on our best outfits we are off for a drink on the terrace of ‘ Casares Gold Club ’ before we go for lunch at our favorite “ Venta Garcia ” further up the Casares road. In the evening back in the village there is an end of term concert on the large roof terrace which is being performed by the School of Music later in the evening after it has cold down a little ! Saturday is the big one down in Sabinllas; “ Notche de San Juan ” when they burn the Tableau on the beach at 12’0clock and there is a firework display at the same time – we can’t make our minds up if we are going to go down at the moment. The picture below taken this morning, Monday as we walked around the village show all the on going work taking place. The picture above which has just come in on Facebook shows the new “ Bin Lid ” breakfast at Jane’s ‘ Legends Café ’over in Cheshire – the bread was baked by Jane’s son Olly in their bakery in Northwich ! Awesome !!

Thought for the Day;

Excellence is not a skill. It’s an attitude.
