SATURDAY/SUNDAY 23rd/24th JUNE 2012.
The weather is still improving ( Getting hotter ! ) and by the start of next week it will be 39/40 degs ! It is now starting to look like one of the hottest June in the last fifty years !! On Saturday we had a nice easy day at home after the weeks celebrations; Brenda caught up with the washing and cleaning, it’s good drying weather, and I was in the office on the WWW. The pictures of ‘ San Juan ’came from the Manilva Facebook page as we decided not to go down this year, The Lord Binning Pub and Kitchen over in Kelsall is going from strength to strength ( Watch out for the second ) in the very near future ! The picture taken by Deb,Brenda’s niece, over in Melbourne was taken at the southern most point of Australia – ‘ Cape Lightrap ’ At the moment her farm and animals are flooded out again after the earthquake ! Things can only get better soon Deb !! The Manilva Cycle Club had a day out and about in the area on Saturday, the flowers which a Spanish friend, Marie Luisa brought for Brenda are one of her favorites and the good old fashioned cards always look great. Thanks to all the family and friends for the phone calls, text messages and Facebook comments on Brenda’s birthday. The music concert on Friday evening was well attended and you could see how the junior acts had improved from last year. In the evening on Saturday for dinner we had ‘ Rib-Eye ’ steaks that we picked up from the English butchers in Duquesa on Thursday, they were very tasty and succulent – afterwards we watched Spain beat France 2-0 who did not play well, and go through to the semi-final against Portugal. We then went for a walk, at midnight, down to The Mirador at the start of the village in the cool night air to watch the firework display down on the beach in Sabinillas after the ‘ San Juan ’ fire – we waited and waited but with no luck so we walked back up to Bar Rojas and were talking to Lumy when they started – late ! That’s life as they say !!
On Sunday we had a very relaxing day at home and in the evening for the ‘ Last Supper ’ before my 48hr diet ready for Wednesday, we had Pan Fried flattened Turkey Breast in foaming lemon Butter with Mushrooms and sliced green Beans ( No Roast for a while ) and then settled down to watch England v Italy – England were annihilated and totally outplayed by the Italians after the first 15 mins and eventually lost 4-2 on penalties ,again to see Italy go through to the other semi-final against Germany.
Thought for the Day;
You don’t get in life what you want, you get in life what you are.
