A VERY HOT & 'STICKY' SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;
I was up
early to welcome back ‘Reina’ for the day before the workmen arrived; they are
working on the 3rd/4th floor which is now above our roof
terrace on two sides, by next week we will be out of sight of the outside world
with only a little bit of sky above our heads!
They have not stopped work all day and as you can see in the pictures above the 3rd/4th floor is going up along side our terrace, next it will be the walls, ceiling and roof! The last picture is our new view!!

After
breakfast I shot along to the local bank to pay the water bill and then carried
on down to our local butchers for some thick-cut ‘English’ style ‘Pork Chops -
Baked’ for tonight’s supper which we are having with a selection of Brenda’s
vegetables and just a few dry sautéed thick cut slices of Baked potato.
I was
catching up with the WWW I found on Facebook that sometime yesterday Lee &
Daniela had an accident in their new car, they are both fine but no news of the
car yet, I will find out about what happened when ‘Reina’ is picked up this
evening! Watch this space. It sounds like a bit of a 'coming together' in the car park in front of 'Iceland' so hopefully fixable!
At the
moment its ‘clammy’ in sunny Manilva as the sun is attempting to break through,
it will be even hotter later reaching 30degs this afternoon, over Andalusia
over the next few days and into next week its going to reach over 40degs inland
– July is just around the corner!
We are
having an ‘at home day’ catching up with the chores, well Brenda is, I’m up in
the office keeping out of the way, checking the WWW – reading the newspapers,
E-Mails etc.
Later this
afternoon we will be back up on what’s left of our roof terrace for our usual
‘Happy Hour’ cocktails, reading and listening to Brenda’s Birthday CD -
‘Sixties’ classic hits – track 3- in all over 70 tunes that we can sing to as I
play the music LOUD!
After
supper we will settle down to watch the news, sport and weather updates before
we find something to watch. Tomorrow morning we are picking Josie up on our
usual shopping travels, we are going around to the surgery to make appointments
for both of us for check ups, then down to Sabinillas to collect the papers
from the English Bookshop, next Mercadona and finally the local market at the
far end of the promenade to pick up some fresh flowers and plants ( Josie )

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA AND SOTOGRANDE ON WEDNESDAY;
We took no
notice of the workmen this morning so just turned over and had a lie in anyway!
The sun was out early and by 9-30am it was all ready 27degs & getting hotter
as the day goes on, the forecast for the rest of the week and over the weekend
is for more of the same.
After
breakfast we are getting ourselves sorted for the day’s festivities ahead, we
are showering and have the outfits ready; we are collecting Josie at 1-00pm and
will then go down the coast road to Sotogrande Marina for our light Tapas lunch
at the “KE” Bar on the front.
As you can see we had another fine Tapas lunch with Josie, the ladies both had the Prawns in Cheese sauce followed by the Chicken Brochettes, I had the Russian salad followed by the Chicken in a Mustard sauce and also a Brochette! Watch out for the pictures above later; Thanks Josie!

Last night
we did not go down to Sabinillas for the ‘San Juan ’ fire festival, we stayed in like
‘Derby & Joan’ sat on the settee in front of the TV! The village was very
quiet, of course, as they participate in all the fun with a dip in the sea and
jumping across the embers for good luck for the year ahead, our days of ‘Fire
Jumping’ are sadly over! See the pictures above of the new Councilors and then
the burning of the tableau before the firework display.
‘Doggy
World Heaven’ this week is rather quiet with out ‘Scruffy’ but the surprise
news is that he’s back with us on Friday evening for a sleep over ‘Reina’ is
here tomorrow for the day, last night when Lee & Daniela collected her they
were in their new car a ‘Toyota Hybrid’ which to say the least is rather
impressive, its totally automatic and changes from the conventional engine to
electricity when the computer tells it too, its silent so when you set off
there is no sound at all – very weird – it has all the gadgets to play with and
when you buy a new one the Spanish Government give you a massive discount!
The cards
are still coming in slowly, it’s the Spanish postal system,( Germany) so the ‘Birthday
Girl’ is still in the mood, yesterday we had another bottle of ‘Cava’ to keep
up the celebrations for a little while longer; next on the horizon its my ‘Big
One’ on the 24th September when we are planning a week of
celebrations in the style to which we have been come accustomed too down here
on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ Fine Champagne, Fine Dining, Dancing etc! Watch this
space.

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;
I was up
early this morning to see ‘Reina’ back for the day, the workmen arrived on time
and have commenced to knock down the second floor scaffolding & boards,
making as much noise as possible, it sounds like they are coming through our
walls!
Great news - 'Scruffy' is back on Friday for a surprise sleep over!
Great news - 'Scruffy' is back on Friday for a surprise sleep over!
We are
staying on our usual breakfast of Weetibix, fresh fruit (Nectarines) &
toast for now, we are having a light snack for lunch and for tonight’s super
its ‘Poached Breast of Chicken’ resting on a pool of Chicken & Mushroom
sauce with some finely sliced Green Beans and a small Baked Potato. “D” Day 2!
It’s an at
home day today after all the celebrations over the last few days, the ‘Birthday
Girl’ has had a ‘Helluva’ time, wining, dining and partying, so now its time
for her to settle down and re-charge her batteries, for now!
The weather
forecast for the week ahead is looking good down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’
with more of the hot sunshine and clear blue skies, the rest of Spain is under
another Atlantic front with storms & rain, over the coming weekend its
staying fine.
Josie has
settled back into her routine in her roof top apartment as she has just put her
washing out! We can just see it, for now, before they start on the next floor
and roof! We are all looking forward to going along the coast road tomorrow
morning to Sotogrande to go to the ‘KE Bar for a light Tapas lunch; Josie is
also on a light/healthy food regime at
the moment also.
We will be
back up on the roof terrace later this afternoon for our ‘Happy Hour’ cocktails
and will be playing Brenda’s new 3x track CD of the classic music of the
“Sixties” which Den has sent her, every song on the CD are sing-along including
‘Brown Eyed Girl’ by Van Morrison!
After
supper we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather details before
settling down to watch something after channel hopping.
PS; A 'BIG' thank you to my family, all our friends both here and around the World for all the 'Likes' 'Messages' 'E-Mails' 'Texts' and of course the good old fashioned cards! Lots of love and kind regards - Brenda xxxx
PPS; Also a 'Singing' E-Mail and a long spot on 'Castle Radio FM 89.2' -many thanks to all!!

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK; " BRENDA'S BIRTHDAY"
We had a
nice surprise this morning as the workmen have not arrived so we were able to
have a nice lie in after yesterday’s celebrations for the ‘Birthday Girl’!
As we
getting freshened up we were listening to ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’ when the
presenter Andrew Charles sent Brenda ‘Birthday Greetings’ live on air and in a
long radio spot talked about her picture yesterday on Facebook and then played
‘Brown Eyed Girl’ for her! Thanks Andrew for the mention, it was a very nice
surprise to the start of the day.
On Facebook
the picture of Brenda has had lots of ‘Likes’ and also messages from family,
friends and locals, mine is also receiving some!! Also 'Facebook' posted a picture of Brenda on her 70th birthday, two years ago on their new 'Memories' link. The E-Mails are starting to arrive and text
messages on her Mobile from her sisters over in the UK .Oh and yes the birthday card from Lyn over in Australia arrived in Mondays' post ten days after she posted it!
After
breakfast I shot along to the local bank to top up the funds and also pick up
some of my prescriptions from the chemists; it’s already very hot in sunny
Manilva and it looks like we are in for a hot week. We are having an easy day
just doing nothing, because we can, the ‘Birthday Girl’ is also taking it nice
and easy for the day, it’s her official ‘Day Off’!
Later I
have a very nice chilled bottle of a fine ‘Cava’ to toast ‘Brenda Rose’ – we
are having a light lunch and then for tonight’s supper we are having a small
‘Fish Platter’ – fresh local Gambas, Salmon Croquettes & Breaded
Langoustines with a Mixed salad and no potatoes! ( D Day)
At
lunchtime ‘Scruffy is due for the afternoon, at the moment ‘Chispa’ has just
come crashing in and is playing around my feet ‘Reina’ is with us on Tuesday
& Thursday.Sadly this is 'Scruffy's' last day with us,except for 'high days & holidays' - as Rose retires this week and Adrian is on part time.we are going to miss him loads as we love him ,he's a real character and a joy to have with us and such good company! He will return!!
Mano & Anna called in at lunchtime, they have not been around for a few weeks so we had a good old gossip and catch up.

We are
collecting Josie from the bus station over in Marbella this evening, a little earlier than
we thought at 10-45pm and Den is arriving on Saturday; Josie is taking us out
for lunch on Wednesday to the ‘KE’ Bar in Sotogrande as her birthday present
for Brenda.She arrived early in Malaga so caught a bus to Estepona,safe but tired - see below;
As we came back up to the village, after parking the car, outside Bar Rojas there was a party going on for some locals.friends & customers,so we were invited to join them for a night cap to finish off Brenda's birthday celebrations! I ended up drinking a shot of something rather strong with a Dutch couple that live next to the bar!
