“ WET, WET, WET, SUNNY MANILVA “
No lie in this morning due to the storms
outside! Overnight the forecasted rain storms arrived, they turned into cloud
bursts with the loudest & longest thunder & lightening that we have
ever heard, it carried on this morning
and is due to get worse before lunchtime, it’s the same tomorrow, if
even more severe! When it rains in Spain – it ‘ RAINS’!!
We have been up & down all night
checking all the windows and doors, the bathroom ceiling is going black, again,
it’s only a week since it was re-sealed and painted, the main problem is the
wall coming out of the bathroom into the office/studio, there is problem
outside from next to the roof terrace/patio, the plaster is very damp and
bubbling in places, this was also repaired last week, we have towels down along
the skirting tiles along the marble floors, the bathroom window is also leaking
a little, we are mopping and squeezing out the towels all the time!
Thankfully the drains in our street and at
the bottom are at the moment are taking the water, it’s a river running past
our front door, sunny Manilva is now cut off, the main road down to Sabinillas
is closed due to a landslide, just after the main roundabout, the road has been
washed away in places, the second back road down past the school is also under
threat; down in Sabinillas there is severe flooding, the underpass is closed
and the main coast road in both direction’s has also come to a standstill, the
usually dry ‘ River Manilva’ is now a roaring torrent and has flooded the valley
below the village, the new bridge supports have nearly been washed away, our friend Brian left his car down in Sabinillas last night,
as he was out & about for his leaving party, it’s now flooded, as you can
see in the pictures above ( the White one!) of the local flooding!
We are now into power cuts, the electricity
keep going off and now we have no water!!
Parts of the the ' Costa Del Sol' are now on ' RED ALERT '
All over Andalucia its even worse, Malaga has been hit hard, there is a picture of a bus totally under water and the coast road to the airport is closed, all the underground car parks are flooded, some above the cars, along the front in Sabinllas, one locally in Duquesa is also flooded to the ceiling and the Marina is also cut off! People can’t get out of the garages because the electric doors/gates aren’t working!

We have just had the loudest thunder clap ' BANG' right over our house, to announce the next cloud burst!
Now for the good news, the forecast from
Tuesday on-wards is dry & sunny and getting warmer up to and over next
weekend – honest!
In between the cuts we managed to have
breakfast, I had a toasted Fried Egg & Smoked Bacon ‘Butty’ and Brenda had
Scrambled Eggs on toast with a slice of Smoked Bacon, we have cancelled this evening
‘ Roast’ supper( Electric!) and are now having the rest of the ‘ Lob Scouse’ (
Gas!) cooking!!
Just a quick update on the sports results;
Manchester City played terribly and lost, at home, 1-3 to Chelsea who played
brilliantly, ‘El Clasico’ was its usual bad tempered match and ended up a 1-1
draw, as Real snatched a late equalizer.
The Jump Racing from Aintree, over the ‘Grand
National & Mildmay’ courses was very exciting, the classic ‘Grand Sefton
& Becher Chases’ took place on a spectacular ‘Autumn’ day, meanwhile at
Sandown Park the racing was also fast & gripping over the famous 7 fences
in the back straight with the 3 ‘Railway’ fences coming close together before
the ‘Pond’ fence, which is jumped into the setting sun, before the final 2
fences up the hill to the finish!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
