I was up early this morning and after a
quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly
shopping; it’s very busy at this time of the year so its everyman for himself!
I was very lucky to find a spot to park outside the front door and went into ‘
Mercadona’ as the shutters were opening, I did our main shop in record time and
then went around to the Wholesale/ Retail Fruit & Vegetable Market before
calling into the ‘English Bookshop’ to post a birthday card(?) and collect the
local English newspapers, I then shot along to the local market at the far end of
the promenade for the fresh flowers & wall plants, finally I stopped at ‘Super Sol’ for our English essentials,
it was then time to shoot back up the hill through the Green Vine fields and
the four hairpin bends to the village.
Yesterday evening when we went up the ‘Bar
Castillo’ for our light Tapas supper there was a nice cooling ‘ Levante’ breeze,
during the night it was quite blustery but by this morning he had dropped, its
the tail end of the cold/wet ‘Atlantic’ front that is heading up to the UK this
weekend, you have been warned! Yesterday afternoon it went even hotter than the
forecast and reached the mid 40s, we are in for more of the same today and
weekend is looking even warmer, next week is going to be a ‘ Hot One ‘ - watch
this space.
‘Reina’ is due at lunchtime to stay with us
until Sunday evening, Lee & Daniela are away at a friend’s wedding in Badajoz,
above Sevilla, she’s back next week as normal from Monday to Friday, then this
evening ‘ Scruffy ‘ is also with us for a sleep over as Adrian & Rose are
going down to the ‘Full Moon Festival’ on the beach in Sabinillas with friends,
see the poster below.
As we were out last night I shot along to
the local bank for some cash after our supper and sat outside ‘Cafe Plaza’ was
Brian, Andy and Brian’s Swedish daughter, Meya, with her boyfriend, she’s over
for ten days, so we went along and joined them for a nightcap and had a good
catch up with all their news and gossip.
This evening for our supper we are going to
have ‘ Poached Cushions of Hake Fillet ’
then coated in my special ‘ Duglere ‘ sauce, a rich Tomato & Onion ( both
fine diced !) creamy White wine sauce, with some Baby New Potatoes in their skins
& Broccoli Florets and Asparagus Spears, on Saturday evening it’s going to
be a large ‘ Entrecote Steak ‘ and then on Sunday I’m making my famous ‘ Smoked
Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto ‘
This weekend we are taking things very easy,
keeping us and the dogs as cool as possible, all the fans are on and we will
all be drinking lots of cold water, ‘Reina’ only needs a short local walk
around the block and ‘ Scruffy’ likes to go along ‘Calle Mar’ to all his
regular ‘spots’ later in the evening and then first thing in the morning.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
