A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 13th / AUGUST 2016.

We all had a nice lie in this morning as ‘Reina’ ended up with us for another sleep over as Lee’s plane was late arriving at Gibraltar, she was collected later this morning by Daniela, ‘Chispa’ or as we now call her ‘ Tinkerbell’- you can hear her coming up our street, has already been in this morning for her breakfast and a play. I was treated to ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast for breakfast before settling down to watch this week’s ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’ with John Tarode, he’s the best ‘guest’ presenter so far.

The sun was out early this morning and we are in for a very hot one today, the breeze has dropped and the new hot front coming across from Africa is starting to take effect, we are in for another glorious weekend and next week is going to be a scorching, to say the least!

See the picture below of the Bay of Colwyn taken earlier this week and an old postcard showing the same view; don’t forget to keep sending the postcards when you are out & about!!

This evening we are going along to ‘Bar Castillo’ for our supper and will watch the ‘ Feria Queen’s ‘ parade with the dancing bands coming along Calle Mar later, see the picture later.

Tomorrow evening we are having a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and then left to rest before slicing in ‘ French’ style, on the side will be sautéed Baby Mushrooms, fine Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – with a sauceboat of ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce!

Today is the start of the new football season over in the UK, in the ‘ Premiere League’ Everton welcome Tottenham and Manchester City travel across to Sunderland, on Sunday Liverpool welcome Arsenal.

Last night we watched the Cycling from the Velodrome in Rio as the ‘British Team Pursuit’ riders raced to victory setting a new world record in the process, beating the Australian World Champions by almost a second! Sir Bradley Wiggins has now five gold, one silver & two bronze medals to surpass Sir Chris Hoy’s tally of seven, he combined with Ed Clancy, Owain Doull & Steven Burke in the 4km race. Australia led for most of the race but our lads had the better pace at the end as they crossed the line!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
