We were up early this morning and after a quick
breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping; the sun is out,
the sky is blue, there is a little breeze and its getting hotter as the day
goes on – 31degs – over the weekend and into next week we are in for more of
the same and getting even warmer – 33degs!
I called into our bank first for some cash,
next Brenda went into the English Bookshop for the papers and post some
birthday cards – watch out it could be you?! We then did our main shop in
‘Mercadona’before picking some fresh flower & plants from the local market
on the far end of the promenade, on the way back up the hill we dropped into
‘Super Sol’ for some English essentials.
When we got back to the house ‘Chispa’ came
running up the street to greet us; the workmen are very busy on the development
erecting the steel foundations, last night I managed to catch the local
Architect and tried to confirm some of the details. I was pointing out that at
the moment the most important job is for damp proof coursing next to the two
main walls of our house, also I enquired how high is the development going to
be,again,it sounds like Brenda is going to loose her roof terrace! Watch this
space.
Last night later on I watched the start of the
‘BBC TV 1’ election coverage upstairs in the office on the large PC,during the
night I came back to it and then this morning I followed the latest results; as
usual the BBC coverage was very good and the surprise result as it developed
was rather special. I’ve just come back from the shopping and the forecast is
looking like the Conservative Party will have a small overall majority!! They
are also saying that the Labour leader, the Lib De leader and the UKIP leader
are all resigning ?! In the last hour they have all resigned. Politics is a brutal business!!
Meanwhile up ‘north’ in Skelton the rumor was
false of the fire in the local Polling Station but much later there was reports
of the sounds of lots of crying & wailing coming from the local parties ‘Hut’
next to the church!! No doubt the ‘Queen & her Consort’ will not now be
knocking nails into any coffins!! Sorry, there’s always another day in five
years time!!!
We are taking things easy today as we have a
busy weekend ahead; this evening we have been invited to the ‘Manilva
Compromiso’ Party Election meeting down at the ‘Duquesa Golf Club’ them
tomorrow it’s the turn of the ‘PP’ Party & ‘ASM’ Party before we go to the
‘IU’ Party meeting in the ‘Plaza Pozo del Rey’ on Sunday evening, no incentives
have been offered by any of the parties including food or/and drink! I have to
declare that we have received one umbrella and one pen!!
Another little bit of nostalgia from 1956 back in Liverpool showing the 'Overhead Railway' passing the Pier Head, also the Green bus's on which I used to go to school on! See below;

After the meeting we are going for a late
supper as it’s the ‘Chef’s & Staff’ night off; watch this space
