‘Reina’
arrived as usual early this morning and is here for the day and then this
evening ‘Charlie’ is being dropped off for his holiday, he’s with us until a
week on Saturday as Brian & Jan are going home to Liverpool to see their
family and also the ‘Three Queens’ in the River Mersey at the Pier Head in
front of the ‘Cunard Steamship’ building on the 175th anniversary of
the company.
They are on their way !!!
They are on their way !!!
The
threatened rain yesterday did not arrive and we have the same forecast for
today, at the moment there is still no sign of any of the wet stuff, its warm
& sunny with just a little breeze, the forecast last night said that the
wet front is very unprictable and could even be back with us on Sunday! In the
meantime it’s still keeping warm with the temperatures hovering at around
21degs.No rain has arrived and in fact its now officially 'Hot' in sunny Manilva!
Its one of
our quiet days at home doing nothing in particular, because we can! ‘Chispa’
has just arrived and is playing with her friend; we will take them out a little
later for a walk, if it stays dry!
At the moment
on the small PC as I’m typing the Blog on the large PC I’m listening ( loud!)
to ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’ top 40 chart show from April 1969! Great to hear all
the old songs including Marvin Gaye’s “I heard it on the Grapevine” and at
number 1 one of my/our favorite all time ‘Beatles’ tracks from the ‘Let it Be’
Album “ Get Back” with Billy Preston on the Hammond organ –recorded ‘live’! We
have just had a little dance as well!!
We had a nice surprise this afternoon when the front door bell went, it was Mano,Anna,Sally Ann & Jenny who use to work for us back in the good old days of the 'Hotel Seventy Degrees' in Colwyn Bay;we had a really good catch up with all the news from North Wales as we toasted seeing her again, after a few years, with a nice bottle of 'Cava' Welcome to sunny Manilva Jenny!

For our
supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘Beef Bourguignon’ which I
have to say was rather special, the Beef from our local butcher was very tasty
& succulent and the sauce was to die for! The whole dish was finished off
by the ‘Heart’Crute prepared by the ‘Assistant Chef’ It brought back happy
memories of the good old days – watch out for more ‘Classics’ in the not to
distant future!
See the
picture below of a classic ‘French Cheese Board’ very similar to the one that
we had at the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’ We had a specially made Cheese Trolley
and all the cheese was displayed on Straw Mats that kept the Cheese just right
to serve!
We also
found a good film to watch later on the ‘Paramount Film Channel’ – “ Night Time
on Manhattan” from back in 1997 – about corruption in the ‘NYPD’ based on true
facts and characters; it was filmed on the streets of New York and stars Andy
Garcia, Richard Dreyfuss,Ian Holm, John Gandolfini & Lena Olin – catch it
if you can!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
