I was up
first thing this morning to see ‘Reina’ back with us for the day, she shot
upstairs and ended up on her duvet across the foot of the bed and went back to
sleep, she likes her beauty sleep, just like somebody else does!
Today is
another glorious day here in sunny Manilva with the sun out from early and the
sky blue, its going to be another hot one today, 37degs by the afternoon, it’s
not like the heat in July & August which is dry and humid as there is a
little breeze still about to make it rather pleasant and at night its not as
hot as in the high summer when things can get rather sticky to say the least!
We had our
usual breakfast and then sorted things out for the day ahead; Brenda is in a
pottering mode finding things to do and meanwhile I’m up in the office on the
WWW reading the newspapers, the Daily Mail (sorry Josie) the Daily Mirror
(Josie?!) the Daily Post (Liverpool) the ‘El Pais’ (in English) then the BBC
News & ‘Al Jazeera’ before checking the E-Mails & Facebook.
The workmen on the development have been erecting the steel towers at various points and later today some major wood shuttering as you can see in the pictures below, also this evening before they left a new load of metal shuttering arrived.

Yesterday
afternoon ‘Furniture World’ called to say that our new gas hob & extractor
hood had arrived and that they would deliver them in half an hours time, which
they did, now that’s service – a Result! Now we have to get our maintenance man
to install them – watch this space!
At the
moment we are having visits from all the parties as they chase our votes, so
far it’s been the ‘PSOE’ ‘IU’ and ‘COMPROMISMO’ – no sign of the ‘PP’ or the
‘ASM’ as normal! I talk to them and tell them what we expect of them for
Manilva especially and also what we want and at the same time what we don’t
like!
The ‘IU’
prospectus is the only one, so far, that is in English as well as Spanish so
they have stolen an advantage on the others, at this local election all the
foreign residents get the vote if registered. The ‘COMPROMISMO’ party has made
lots of promises and forecasts but it takes a little time to translate it all!
Last night
after supper we channel hopped after I had been upstairs in the office watching
the second leg semi-final of the ‘Champions League’ as Juventus knocked out
Real Madrid and so play Barcelona in the final in Berlin in June; this means
that ‘Los Blancos –Real Madrid’ could finish the season trophyless!
At the
moment I follow on the ‘TDP’ Sports channel everyday their excellent coverage
of the ‘Giro d’Italia’- yesterday in the first mountain stage the race
favourite Alberto Contador took over the ‘Pink’ leaders jersey, today’ sixth
stage is from ‘Montecatini Terme’ to Castigione Della Pescara’ over 183kms –
the Giro ends in Milan on the 31st May.
For this
evenings supper we are having the rest of the of the ‘Chicken Casserole’ with
twice-cooked ‘Chips’ and will then settle down to watch the news, spot and
weather details.
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
