TUESDAY 5th/
NOVEMBER 2013.
We had a
little lie in this morning and got up to another glorious day; its warm and
sunny with clear blue skies and the forecast for the rest of the week and over
the weekend is more of the same, there is a little ‘Lavante’ breeze which makes
it very pleasant and the temperature is 28degs today and then settling down to
23/24 by the weekend!
After our
tea and toast we went for a nice walk around the village with the dog, as you
can see above its all happening in sunny Manilva today! We went along Calle Mar
to our local bank and they have started to knock down the old Town Hall, we had
a hint last week that something was going to happen, they are going to make a
new small ‘Plaza’ in front of the fountain which is also next to our local fish
market.
Then we
went down Calle Inglesia to the butchers for our Pork Chops and fillets of
Breast of Chicken, just below past the Pensioners Club they are also
demolishing a derelict house which backs onto another one in Calle Muro Aguilar
to form a new passage way down to the cemetery! We gathered from the foreman
that they are saving the large tree which you can see in the pictures above! The council with the the Mayor Antonia came along on an inspection visit.
We came
back through the new ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ so as I could call into the local
IT shop for some ink for the printer, they have changed the shop around and now
its also selling ladies fashions and handbags, Brenda was in like a flash and
ended up buying a very nice new shoulder/hand bag! It’s either an early Xmas
present or an anniversary one!!
This
morning one of our pensions came in to our bank over in Estepona, sadly its
down as the Euro has dropped again, another one is due in next week so we will
have to wait and see; over the month we will be down overall and it also means
that since we came here we have lost nearly 35% of our pensions due to the
Euro!!
Over in England today history could be made when AP
McCoy the 18 times Champion Jockey seeks two wins at Exeter to reach the milestone of 4,000
jump racing victories! His first British success was at Exeter back in 1994. Watch this space. No luck today so its Chepstow tomorrow.
Tonight for
supper we are having a Chicken & Turkey Curry for supper, the Crown of
Turkey which we had on Sunday also gave us our cold Turkey supper last night, a
Turkey salad today for lunch and two meals for
Chispa! The butcher this morning had some more of them on display, they are
very good value and un-usually for Spanish Turkeys have large Breasts!! I called back into the butchers and just managed to get the last one,he had sold nine more since I had been in earlier this morning!
Later we
will watch the football as it’s the ‘UEFA Champions League’ match on TVE1
between Juventus and Real Madrid, also tonight Manchester Utd are over here at
Real Sociedad, who are playing very well at the moment; meanwhile in England
Manchester City welcome CSKA Moscow.City won 5-2 with a Negrado hat-trick, 2-2 at Juventus and 0-0 at Real Sociedad with a missed penalty by Van Persie!
