SUNNY AND HOT MANILVA AT THE START OF THE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 1st/ NOVEMBER 2013.

We had a nice lie in this morning as we are up early again tomorrow to go to Malaga; the forecast as predicted is right, clear blue skies, warm and sunny and getting hotter over the weekend; the sound of the street cleaning machine is usually what we hear, there are two types and also the street cleaner brushes all the streets, once a month the water wagon comes along and washed down all the streets!  We have just come back from our walk with the dog; we sat on our ‘Darby & Joan’ seat on the Mirador down at the entrance to the village and took in the view down to the coast and across to the mountains.

This morning I’ve been busy in the kitchen, first I made another batch of my famous ‘Tomato Salsa’ using Plum Tomatoes, chopped Onions, lots of Garlic, diced Red peppers, mixed herbs,Vineager,sugar,Tomato Frito & Tomato Ketchup, Vegetable stock and a dash of Red wine! Then blended after tasting the seasoning!!

Then I set too and got my ingredients ready for tonight’s supper, at Brenda’s request! “Fishcakes” – yesterday we bought a nice tail end of Salmon and a Fresh Crab, so I have poached the Salmon fillet and boiled the Crab and flaked the best parts of the Crab with the Salmon, Brenda then made her famous Mashed Potato, dry and left it to go cold, then I will mix all the ingredients together, add chopped parsley, Lemon Juice and a beaten Egg with a little dusting of flour, season to taste and shape,I’am going to Breadcrumb them and shallow fry in pure Vegetable Oil, diced crisp Chips and Garden Peas on the side and the fresh Tomato Salsa as the dipping sauce! We can’t wait!! See the picture above.

Anna called in at lunchtime for a chat and gossip and picked up some of the newspapers that we picked up yesterday; we asked them for Sunday roast so we will have to wait to here from them, its Roast Crown of Turkey with all the trimmings,Xmas has come early and so we are testing all our local produce!

The village is very quiet today as the tradition on this bank holiday is for all the families to go to the cemetery and decorate their mausoleums with loads of fresh flowers! Tonight the Friday ‘La Liga’ match is the derby game between Barcelona and Espanyol, so it might be on one of the sports channels later. After our supper we will watch the news and weather forecast and then catch a Friday night film.

Thought for the Day; See above.
