MONDAY 18th/
NOVEMBER 2013.
Well here
goes for the week ahead which is going to be a ‘Helluva’ one if we know Tim! We
shot across to La Linea in Andy’s car and Brenda walked across the border to
the new Airport of Gibraltar as she wanted to do some shopping in the
duty-free; the sun was out and the skies were clear and his plane was on time,
but they had a problem coming back into Spain, the Guardia Civil stopped and
searched Tim, he had two litre bottles for us but Brenda stepped in and said
one was hers! They then had more problems getting back into the queue but once
again Brenda took charge and got them out!
We then
went into the old centre of La Linea and walked into the town, we had a coffee
and a drink at 'Cafe Modelo' then went to “ La Bodeguiya ” which was open this time, Tim and
Brenda went on the house wine and I had my usual ‘B&C’ ! The house Olives
come out of a large maturing jar on the bar and we started with the very fresh
and delicious ‘Boquerones – Fresh Anchovies’ in the house Olive Oil, to follow
we then had the warm Roast Pork carved off the bone and served in warm crisp flatbread,
they are to die for and we had more of the same to follow with a plate of the
house Frits!
It was then
time to head back along the coast road with a stop in Sotogrande Marina at the
‘Ke Bar’ for some more drinks on the most beautiful day as you can see in the
picture below; after un-packing at our house we welcomed Tim back to sunny
Manilva in the usual fashion – more wine! For supper we had Baked English cut
Pork Chops topped with glazed ‘Fuji ’ Apple slices with Cabbage with Alselgas
and Carrot batons in Ginger, Breton style Potatoes with three sorts of Peppers
and my now famous rich and piquant ‘Charcutiere’ sauce on the side. Another
fine Rioja helped things along! A good catch-up chat and gossip ended the
perfect day for the ‘Kings’ visit – long live the King !!
Thought for
the Day; See above.
