SATURDAY 4th/
MAY 2013
After a
nice lie in this morning we got up to the sun braking through and clear blue
skies; the dog ‘Escaped’ early and came crashing in, we then got our act
together and went out for a very long walk around the village. Strangely there
was no football or sports taking place down at the sports arena but as we came
back around into the village by the wine centre it was packed outside with
people and children all dressed up; they had held the ‘Communion’ service in
the theater as of course the church is not in use but I had not seen any
details that it was today!
This
afternoon Brenda is up on the roof terrace catching the sun and reading and I’
am in the office watching on the large PC live coverage of the 1st
stage of the “ Giro D’Italia” on the ‘Europa Sports Channel’ Excellent coverage
from the helicopter’s of the Bay of Naples as the stage is a 8km circuit race
around Naples over 130kms – it is fast, furious and very dangerous as there are
lots of sharp turns in the centre of the city. The sprint finish along the sea
front is wide and straight – in one ‘Helluva’ sprint Mark Cavendish wins by
half a wheel from a very unhappy Italian with a perfectly timed effort – it
means that he will wear the ‘Pink’ ( not Yellow) jersey tonight as the leader
of the tour! The English football in the Premier League has not been very
interesting today, Manchester City were held to a draw at Swansea .
Tonight for
supper we are treating ourselves to another ‘Feast’ We are having “ Surf and
Turf – Spanish style ” – our local butchers ‘Plancha Steak’ cooked ‘Pink’ on
our special griddle pan and topped with large peeled fresh Gambas with sautéed
Onions and Mushrooms, sliced fine Green Beans, seared Asparagus Spears and of
course crisp chips made with a local variety that makes the perfect chip! On
the side we are also having the rest of the ‘Hollandaise’ sauce !!
If we can
move afterwards we will catch up with the ‘La Liga’ football and the highlights
from around Europe before we settle down to watch a
film.
Thought for
the Day; see above as it is a picture one for today!
