MANILVA TODAY VERY HOT AND SUNNY

TUESDAY 7th/ MAY 2013

As forecast today is the hottest day so far this year, 26/27degs and rising! After our tea and toast I shot around to our chemists to pick up my new tablets as the doctor says ‘Keep taking them’!! We then went for the 11-00am bus for a change, for the first time in a while, we were picked up by our butcher’s lady and she dropped us down in Sabinillas right outside the first shop on our list! The new bus stop is outside the entrance to the Wine Centre so I took the opportunity to slip in and get a picture of the new Wine Museum as you can see below.

Brenda has a new Spanish Mobile, a ‘Samsung’ GT – 1195 – it sound grand but in fact it is just a basic Pay-as-you-Go – the new number is 693731415 – we will be in touch with everybody after we have set it up. We then had a nice walk around the shops behind the sea front and came back up to the furniture shops on the main road to look for a lounger/chair – we found a good selection but they were all rather expensive even with the 15% discount! So it was time to go back to the charity shop where last Friday we spotted a two-seater Cream Leather settee in very good condition – only soapy water needed! The owner was back from Greece and when he old us the price we snapped his hand off – 60 euros!! They are delivering it tonight! We then went and sat in the square and had a celebration Bacon and Sausage baps with mugs of tea. We walked over the road and caught the bus as it came down from the village, as we are pensioners we get the cheap rate, it then goes on its route down the coast towards Sotogrande and then back again and up to the village – a nice drive with views to die for.

This afternoon we are having a lazy day and taking things easy; Brenda is taking the dog to the vets at six o’clock for the full works, shampooed, cut and trim and her toe-nails cut and trimmed, she goes back later to pick her up.I’am going to catch up with today’s stage results of the ‘Giro d’Italia later. This morning on the way back from the chemists I took some pictures of Plaza Botica being re-surfaced and this afternoon after they had finished – see the pictures below.

PS; The second longest stage of the tour was over 246kms from Policastro to Serra San Bruno in the pouring rain - the winner,Enrico Battiaglin was 6 hours,14 mins and 19 seconds in the saddle! Wiggins has dropped to 6th behind some of his main rivals in the overall standings- Oh dear!

This evening for supper we are having Minute Steak a la Plancha with the full works as usual; it will then be time to ‘Christen’ the new settee ! Watch out for the picture !

Thoughts for the Day;

Even though quality cannot be defined, you know what quality is.  Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.
