MANILVA AT THE START OF MAY

TUESDAY 30th/ APRIL WEDNESDAY 1st/ THURSDAY 2nd/ MAY 2013

The weather forecast is now looking a lot more settled and we are back into 20/21degs every day with the sun out, it is one of the best time’s of the year as it is hot, but not too hot with a little light breeze occasionally; we went for a good walk on Tuesday morning with Cheta around the village and took the unusual picture of the main Sierra’s topped with snow as you can see below, how the owner of the Citron ended up on the barriers we will never know!

In the evening for supper we had Minute Steak a la Plancha with sautéed Onions and Mushrooms, sliced Green Beans and thick cut sautéed Baked Potatoes, on the side we had some Béarnaise sauce – heaven! I was then time for the Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund second leg on TVE1 – oh dear – Real played very well for the first ten minutes and should have scored at least two, but then for the next sixty minutes they were not in the game; then after the subs came on for Real they scored two in the last ten minutes and ran out of time to get the third that they needed to win! 3-4 to Dortmund so they go to Wembley!

Wednesday was a Bank holiday here as well so the village was quiet; in the morning I made the Chicken curry and then freshened up and we went for a walk down to Bodega Augustin for a ‘Bank Holiday’ drink. Anna came along, then Carlos, and then Domingo and Dylan with his new baby puppy and finally Sally Ann! The only one missing was Mano who was working in his garden!!

In the evening Mano and Anna joined us for dinner, to start I had put together some Tapas from anything I could find in the fridge, sliced Green Beans in a Balsamic Vinaigrette, fresh Broad Beans sautéed with diced Onions, Smoked Bacon and Garlic,Mano’s favoutite, sauteed Chicken Livers in a savory sauce, Anna’s favorite,
Iberica Ham, Cheese platter and for Brenda fresh Asparagus spears with York Ham and Béarnaise sauce! We opened a bottle of Cava and had ‘Kir Royal’ as we won’t see much of Mano in the next few months as he is back in work at the villa from Thursday. The Chicken Curry with Garden Peas and sliced Banana went down very well a bit later.

The Barcelona v Bayern Munich game was only on pay-TV so we followed it on ‘Marca TVs sound but no vision coverage, perhaps this was the best idea as Barcelona were comprehensively beaten by a rampant Munich team 3-0 making the aggregate score 7-0! Two German teams in the final!

“ The beginning of the end of an era for Barcelona – and the end of the beginning of an era for Bayern Munich”

Today, Thursday it is another lovely day as we went for our walk around the village as you can see in the picture above; we are now back into reading and the next two books are ‘Patterson’s’ This evening for supper we are having ‘Sexton Burgers’ – when I was in the butchers on Tuesday morning he was making Beef Burgers which I could not resist, so tonight we having them, watch out for the pictures ! Brenda is having a Cheese Burger with all the trimmings and I’ am having the famous ‘Sexton Burger’ – full Monty! Beef Burger,Lettuce,Tomato,Gherkin,Smoked Bacon and topped with a fried Egg!! Homemade French Fries will help it all go down.

PS; This evening after our burgers and fries we watched the second legs of the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Leagus cup; upstairs in the office on the PC I watched  Chelsea beat Basel in a thrilling game,3-1 with Torres scoring and Luiz hitting a wonder goal as the beat Basel 5-2 on agg. Meanwhile downstairs Brenda was watching on 'Quartro' Benfica beat Fenerbache also 3-1 - 3-2 on agg. We shout the scores to each other as the games go on ! The final is in Amsterdam later in the month.

Thought for the Day; it’s another picture one see above.
