A ' CRISP' & WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE ' CARNIVAL WEEKEND'

FRIDAY 15th/ MARCH 2019.

I was up early again this morning and after my usual quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, I first called into ‘ ItZabar’ for my toast & tea before ‘ Mercadona’ opened, I had a technical problem with my card at the check-out so I had to go across to our Bank for some cash, I then stopped at the ‘English Bookshop ‘ for the local newspapers and ‘Easter Cards’ I was going to the ‘ English Butchers & Super Sol’ but because the card was not working I just carried on to the local market at the far end of the promenade for the fresh flowers & wall plants,  as I came back up through the vine fields they were burning off all the old branches & leaves, so the aroma of the smoke was wafting across the road. I will go back down tomorrow morning after the Bank sorts out the card!

Meanwhile back at the house Brenda took ‘ Chico’ out for his first walk of the day, he spent the night sleeping on the floor under the bed, ‘ Scoobie’ was then dropped off for his two-night sleep over, they are both full of joy & energy, as usual, they are due to be collected on Sunday.

Next week we have two new dogs coming to see us, ‘ Minnie & Summer’ – they are going to be staying with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ for 4/5 weeks over August/September!

See them below;

Yesterday evening we had a nice surprise ‘ Facebook Message’ from Jane & David over in Cheshire, they are coming over to Malaga on Monday 22nd April and are staying for a short three night break at the “ Atanazanas Boutique Hotel “ in the centre of the City, opposite the famous Market! We are going to join them on the Tuesday ‘ St George’s Day’! Watch this space.

This morning the sun was out first thing and the sky had cleared and was blue, as I set off on my travels, by lunchtime it will reach 20 degs, tomorrow & Sunday going up to 22 degs+  over the ‘ Carnival Weekend’ - during the day, staying warm & sunny, sadly next week is still looking very unsettled as the cold, wet & windy ‘ Atlantic’ front hits us from Tuesday onwards. The breeze is increasing and the wet-stuff’ is going to bring moderate to heavy at times – ‘RAIN’ – for the first time in over six months! It will be hovering on the 13/15 degs during the day, down to 10/11 degs during the night time, watch this space.

This afternoon we will be watching the ‘ National Hunt Racing ‘ on Day 4 of the ‘ Cheltenham Festival on “ Gold Cup Day ” - yesterday was one of the most moving and exciting days of racing as Bryony Frost created history as she won the ‘ Ryanair Chase’ on Frodon’ and ‘ Paisley Park’ won the ‘ Stayers’ Hurdle’ for its blind owner!

For our supper this evening we are keeping things simple; ‘ Pan-Seared Fillets of Hake’ – dusted in seasoned flour and finished ‘ A La Meuniere’ style, with Broccoli Florets, Garden Peas and Parsley New Potatoes. On Saturday its’ going to be a large ‘Grilled Rib of Beef’ on the bone, with all the trimmings, Sunday is still TBC- depending on the ‘English Butchers’ tomorrow!

After supper we will channel hop to find something to watch.

A VERY WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF ANOTHER ' HELLUVA' WEEK !

MONDAY 2nd/ MARCH 2015.

We had another nice lie in this morning as the children have gone back to school after the half term holidays, the street was very quiet and no noise as for some it’s a Bank Holiday. The sun was out early and as the morning has progressed it’s steadily gone warmer and if fact by lunchtime when we went for a walk with ‘Chispa’ it was so hot we could not sit for long in the park – 22/23degs and rising! The forecast for the week is looking good with no sign of any nasty changes and the temperatures hovering on the 21/22 degs mark!

Brenda has the washing out on the roof terrace and is going up this afternoon to sit and read in the warm sunshine listening to the local radio station!

After our usual breakfast I shot around to the butchers for ‘Escalope of Chicken Breast’ for tonight’s supper, I’m pan-frying them in foaming Lemon Butter and we are having dry sautéed thick-cut slices of Baked potato and a ‘Buquetiere’ of Vegetables; I also bought some diced Beef ready for Wednesday’s pan of ‘Scouse’Tomorrow evening we are having a ‘Soft’ Mixed Grill.

I also made a batch of my now famous Tomato Salsa as tomorrow morning I’m making a fresh batch of my in demand ‘Minestrone Soup’

The Blog is late being published today as Andy called in after my cry for help as I had memory problems with both of the PCs and my Facebook page was non-responsive, he has solved all the problems and I’m for the time being back I’m to normal.

We are going to consider changing the PCs as their shelf life is coming to an end, after discussing it with Andy we are going to look for a new Desk Top system with keyboard, mouse, tower and large screen as well as a second add-on screen! We are going to check out a computer shop in Estepona. as its English run, as of course we need an English system, there is also a large Mini- Mart in the Las Palomes shopping mall behind Algerciras also, finally there is a Spanish computer shop down in Sabinillas to consider, watch this space.!

This week in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ ‘Reina’ is with us tomorrow and on Thursday ‘Scruffy’ is also here for the day tomorrow and then back on Friday, this means that tomorrow we could have the three dogs to take for a walk after ‘Chispa’ comes calling! Watch this space.

Our shopping is back to normal on Friday and then this Saturday it’s the annual “Carnival Day” here in sunny Manilva; the street parade with the Brazilian Dancers, Samba Bands, floats and various drummer‘s & dancers come along Calle Mar in the early evening – a little bit of ‘Rio’ comes to the village - as we and the streets are covered in streamers and confetti!

This evening after supper we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather details before finding something to watch. See below some ‘Yellow Daffs’ as yesterdays were not very yellow!
