We managed a little lie in this morning and
after freshening up we had our usual, ‘Weetabix’ with sliced Banana for me,
brown toast for Brenda with mugs of tea.
Sandra & Bill then picked us up at
11-00am in their car, we then met Neil & Nicole, who was feeling a lot
better, in the other car, down at the ‘Repsol’ garage and then set off, in
convoy, along the coast road and over the mountains, behind Algeciras, down
into Tarifa, for the day.
The breeze, overnight, had dropped a
little, the sun was out and sky was clear & blue as we set off, making it
very pleasant to be out & about, by lunchtime, over in Tarifa, it reached a
‘Balmy’ 28 degs+ - tomorrow and Saturday are looking the same, Sunday is going
to be a little warmer, as the breeze drops, next week, on Monday, is starting
in the low 30s, then going cooler, as the breeze picks up again, hovering in
the low/mid 20s, with a few patchy clouds around at times as well as the threat
of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ in the air! Watch this space.
See below yesterday evenings ‘Red Sky’ over
all of sunny Manilva.
On Wednesday evening we had a very nice
supper at the ‘ La Choza ‘ Resturante, which was very busy, with nearly one
hundred covers, as well as a late party of 20 Firefighters, who had been
fighting a large fire behind Casares, in the mountains!
Sandra & Bill shared a starter of ‘Foie
Gras’- Brenda had the warm ‘Green Asparagus wrapped in Iberica Ham’ - coated
with a Cheese sauce, with Rice! I had the open ‘ King Prawn ‘ cocktail.
See below;
For the main course Sandra had the ‘ Crown
of Rack of Lamb’ Brenda had a small, skin-on ‘Grilled Turbot - Rodaballo’ – Bill choose the
‘Grilled Fillet Steak’ in a savoury cream sauce, meanwhile I, as usual, had the always excellent
‘ Beef Stroganoff ‘ with Rice.
The wine flowed as we sorted the World out,
thanks Sandra & Bill!
Today Neil & Nicole went off to check
out the old part of Tarifa, we found, for lunch, the same little ‘ French Bistro’
that we went too last year, we choose from the two- course ‘Menu Del Dia’-
Brenda & I had the ‘Gazpacho’ soup, served in tall glasses, as it should
be, Sandra had the ‘ House Pate/Terrine, for our main course Brenda & I had
the ‘Stir-Fried Rice with Chicken’ and Sandra had the ‘ Grilled Hake Fillet’
resting on a savoury Tomato salsa, Bill choose, from the small ‘ A La Carte’
menu, the ‘Seared Pork Fillet ‘ – with a Sherry salsa.
We then met up and set off further along
the coast to Bolonia, past the hundreds
of Kite & Wind Surfers, for a nice cool drink, sat in the ‘Chiringuito’ –
overlooking the white sandy bay as the waves crashed in.
See below;
On the way back we stopped at the spectacular
‘Mirador’ overlooking the busy ‘ Strait of Gibraltar’ – connecting the ‘Mediterranean
to the Atlantic Ocean’ and the view across from the ‘Peninsular of Spain’ to the ‘ Rif’ mountains in Morocco, Africa!
See below;
NB; Tomorrow morning we have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video
link-up with Jack & Lyn, over in Melbourne, when Sandra & Bill our joining
us, later at lunchtime we are going up to Casares to the ‘Restaurante Sarmiento
Brasa Andaluza ‘ where we have booked their private room ( 10 persons) for the ‘
Big Family’ get together! Watch this
space.
