We managed a nice lie in this morning after
another very hot night, as well as loud music, with singing & dancing,
coming from the ‘ Casa Del Torres ‘ Cultural Centre, in the next street, which
didn’t start until 12-30am and went on until 3.0am! It was a ‘Flamenco’ concert
after a dinner, arranged by the local ‘Flamenco Association’!
After a quick freshen up we made contact
with Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne, on the ‘Skype’ video, as yesterday
evening we missed a call from them, they were calling as Jeff( Lyn’s son) & Annette, from Brisbane, were staying the
night with them, and Lyn’s daughter Annette joined them for dinner, cooked by
Jeff! They are both very well, despite the cold, wet & windy weather over
there, they have a new great grandchild ( Brandon’s) – later next week Jack has
an appointment with his ‘ Heart Consultant, then Lyn is going out with Deb, for
a ‘July’ Christmas lunch after a show! Still no letters have arrived from Norah
& Jenny?!
The morning has started very close &
clammy, the sun is breaking through and there are a few patchy clouds, as the
breeze has not yet picked up, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 28 degs, on two of
the forecasts it’s showing that patchy rain is possible, at the start of next
week, it will be ‘ warm’ as its’ still hovering in the high 20s! By mid-week it’s
going warmer and then by Friday we will be up to 33 degs+ the same on next
Saturday, just in time for the annual ‘Manilva Feria’ - before going a little cooler into the following
week, watch this space.
On the sports front yesterday; England lost
to New Zealand in the semi-final, of the ‘ Netball World Cup’ in Liverpool, by
two points, but didn’t play well near the end, after leading! The ‘Open’ Golf
from ‘Royal Portrush’ in Northern Ireland was very exciting as the ‘Irish’
golfer Shane Lowry had a third round of 63, giving him a 4 shot lead, over
England’s Tommy Fleetwood, going into today’s final round!
Over in the “ Tour de France’ it’s ‘Stage
15’ today, in the Pyrenees, from Limoux to Foix Prat d’ Albis over 185 kms, with
four more mountains to climb before the finish, tomorrow is a ‘rest-day’ before
the final seven stages, finishing in Paris next Sunday, yesterday Thibaut Pinot
( French) won the climb to the top of
the Tourmalet, as Julien Alaphilppe (French) extended his lead over Britain’s Geraint
Thomas, last year’s winner!
On the menu front; yesterday evening we
ended up going out for our supper, as it was just too hot to go into the
kitchen, on Friday evening when I was cooking the ‘ Fish n’Chip ‘ supper I
nearly passed out with the heat! We sat outside in the cooler evening air with
nice cold drinks, along at ‘ Bar Castillo’ and had a light ‘Tapas ‘ supper, the ‘Fillet
Steaks’ have gone away for a later date, this evening we are having ‘Poached
Chicken Breasts’ – Brenda is poaching them this lunchtime, I will carve them ‘
cold’ this evening when we are going to have a selection of Mixed Salads, with
Parsley New Potatoes, the same tomorrow night!
When we returned we watched the next
exciting episode of “ Killing Eve” – with just one killing at the very end!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
