A VERY HOT & ' CLOSE' SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 22nd/ JULY 2019.

We were both up very early this morning and after a quick freshen up we got another week on the go, I shot down to the main ‘ Medical Centre’ for my emergency appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, she has adjusted my prescription tablets/antibiotic tablets etc, she then checked my right leg (Celluiltis) which is improving/clearing, then my left arm( Herpes Zostos) which is also is clearing, but is still very uncomfortable, I now have nasty ‘ Heat-Type’ rash over the back of my body, which is also caused by the antibiotics, hopefully now under control!

She also readjusted my dosage of my Insulin injections after checking my Blood/Glucose readings and made an appointment with the ‘Practise Nurse’ later in the morning to check out all the equipment etc, which meant that I had to go back down when it was even hotter and more difficult to park!

At this time of the year it’s very difficult to park, even early in the morning, due to all the holiday makers cars, so I had to walk in the hot sunshine, as there was no shade, they have the ‘air-con’ on in the centre, so while you wait it gets rather uncomfortable, to say the least, by the time I went in I was like a wet rag, when I returned home I was drained! Brenda treated me to ‘Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for herself, with mugs of tea.

I then went for a ‘ Siesta’ to get myself sorted for the next visit down to Sabinillas later in the morning, which was the same but even hotter, very hot in the sun(no shade)  and even longer to walk! When I came home later I collapsed on the bed, for an even longer ‘Siesta’ – hence there being no ‘Blog’ today, as later in the afternoon it’s too hot in the office/studio, to type/post it, even with the fan on! “ SORRY” !!

Back at the house Brenda had welcomed back little’ Miss Bella’ for the day, she’s back on Tuesday also, later in the afternoon ‘ Scruffy’ was being dropped off for a few hours, he’s back on Tuesday/Friday, with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – as usual ‘ Chispa’ has been in and out, all the time to see her friends.

As you can guess it was very hot and clammy today, the sun was out early and the sky was clear & blue, there was just a very slight breeze so by lunchtime it was due to reach 29 degs+ in the shade, tomorrow is still showing on all the forecasts ‘Rain’?! The Temperatures are still hovering in the high 20s, getting hotter as the week goes on, by the ‘ Feria Santa Ana Weekend’ up to 31 degs+ we are in for a ‘ Hot-One’ – next week is another very hot week, watch this space.

Along ‘Calle Mar’ the Council workmen are starting to erect the two stages, in the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ the fairground rides have started to appear, as well as all the food stalls etc - ready for the start of all the celebrations for the ‘Feria Santa Ana’ starting on Thursday evening.

See below, all the information:

See below some pictures from the ‘ Flamenco ‘ concert in the ‘ Casa del Torres’ Cultural Centre on Saturday evening as well as the “Luna Llena “ party down on the beach in Sabinillas, on Saturday evening also!

Over in Liverpool another new cruise line berthed at the ‘Pier Head’ – the “ Viking Jupiter “ with the ' Sichem Ruby' passing !

See below;

For our supper we had the rest of the cold ‘Poached Chicken Breast’ sliced with Mixed Salad and a few twice-cooked ‘ Chips’! On Tuesday we are having ‘ Steak Sandwiches ‘ – again with Mixed Salad and a few ‘ Frits’

We then after supper channel hopped and found a very interesting documentary on the two centres being built in Manchester & London, they are the first ‘ Proton Beam ‘ projects in the UK, which have the potential to save the lives of children with otherwise incurable cancers! It’s like building a underground reactor in the center of the cities, it showed if from the start of digging the largest ‘ holes’ in the ground to completion and treating their first patient! A 250 million pound investment from the NHS!

A VERY HOT AND ' STICKY ' SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 21st/JULY 2019.

We managed a nice lie in this morning after another very hot night, as well as loud music, with singing & dancing, coming from the ‘ Casa Del Torres ‘ Cultural Centre, in the next street, which didn’t start until 12-30am and went on until 3.0am! It was a ‘Flamenco’ concert after a dinner, arranged by the local ‘Flamenco Association’!

After a quick freshen up we made contact with Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne, on the ‘Skype’ video, as yesterday evening we missed a call from them, they were calling as Jeff( Lyn’s son)  & Annette, from Brisbane, were staying the night with them, and Lyn’s daughter Annette joined them for dinner, cooked by Jeff! They are both very well, despite the cold, wet & windy weather over there, they have a new great grandchild ( Brandon’s) – later next week Jack has an appointment with his ‘ Heart Consultant, then Lyn is going out with Deb, for a ‘July’ Christmas lunch after a show! Still no letters have arrived from Norah & Jenny?!

The morning has started very close & clammy, the sun is breaking through and there are a few patchy clouds, as the breeze has not yet picked up, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 28 degs, on two of the forecasts it’s showing that patchy rain is possible, at the start of next week, it will be ‘ warm’ as its’ still hovering in the high 20s! By mid-week it’s going warmer and then by Friday we will be up to 33 degs+ the same on next Saturday, just in time for the annual ‘Manilva Feria’ -  before going a little cooler into the following week, watch this space.

On the sports front yesterday; England lost to New Zealand in the semi-final, of the ‘ Netball World Cup’ in Liverpool, by two points, but didn’t play well near the end, after leading! The ‘Open’ Golf from ‘Royal Portrush’ in Northern Ireland was very exciting as the ‘Irish’ golfer Shane Lowry had a third round of 63, giving him a 4 shot lead, over England’s Tommy Fleetwood, going into today’s final round!

Over in the “ Tour de France’ it’s ‘Stage 15’ today, in the Pyrenees, from Limoux to Foix Prat d’ Albis over 185 kms, with four more mountains to climb before the finish, tomorrow is a ‘rest-day’ before the final seven stages, finishing in Paris next Sunday, yesterday Thibaut Pinot ( French)  won the climb to the top of the Tourmalet, as Julien Alaphilppe (French) extended his lead over Britain’s Geraint Thomas, last year’s winner!

On the menu front; yesterday evening we ended up going out for our supper, as it was just too hot to go into the kitchen, on Friday evening when I was cooking the ‘ Fish n’Chip ‘ supper I nearly passed out with the heat! We sat outside in the cooler evening air with nice cold drinks, along at ‘ Bar Castillo’  and had a light ‘Tapas ‘ supper, the ‘Fillet Steaks’ have gone away for a later date, this evening we are having ‘Poached Chicken Breasts’ – Brenda is poaching them this lunchtime, I will carve them ‘ cold’ this evening when we are going to have a selection of Mixed Salads, with Parsley New Potatoes, the same tomorrow night!

When we returned we watched the next exciting episode of “ Killing Eve” – with just one killing at the very end!

A " VERY " HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 29th/ JUNE 2019.

After a very hot night we had a nice, long, lie in this morning, after freshening up, Brenda was on the breakfast rota so I had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on toast, boiled with brown toast fingers for her, with mugs of strong/hot tea.

Today we are taking things as easy as possible, basically doing nothing, relaxing, keeping cool and drinking lots of cold water, we are not venturing out, I’m on more antibiotics/prescription tablets then ever in my life, as well as a soothing cream, Brenda is the same, as she now has a ‘ Water Works’ problem to deal with as well!

See below a different view of sunny Manilva.

Yesterday evening, at the top of our street, in front of the Town Hall, in ‘ Calle Mar’ there was a  “ Trail Nocturno – Night Time Race “ – for the first time, with all the runners using ‘ head-lights’ as they ran the route around the hills, behind the village, see below a small selection of some pictures.

Not surprisingly we didn't make the start!!

This morning has started very hot & sunny, the sky is blue & cloudless, with a very slight breeze, meaning that we are in for a ‘ hot-one’ later today, reaching 29 degs+ - tomorrow even hotter and the next week it’s going to be a ‘ Scorcher ‘ – hovering in the low 30s, by next weekend up to 33 degs+ - watch this space

On the sports front this weekend we will be following the ‘ Ladies World Cup Football ‘ over in a very hot France, England beat Norway last night and the play the ‘Champions’ USA, next week in the Semi-finals! The Ladies Tennis, final, is from Eastbourne, as Wimbledon starts on Monday. The ‘ Cricket World Cup ‘ is ongoing and the ‘Horse Racing’ on the flat, is from Chester, later today, finally over in Austria, it’s the ‘Grand Prix’ – with Lewis Hamilton going for another win at the ‘Red Bull Ring ‘ in Spielberg, in the ‘Styrian’ mountains.

Over in Liverpool yesterday the cruise liner, the “ Black Watch’ berthed at the Pier Head, for the second time this year,  see below also a picture from back in 1965, of the “ Empress of England “ at the Princes Landing Stage, bringing back many happy memories of my Uncle who used to work on the liner, in the restaurant as the ‘ Head Carver’ – as well as on the “ Empress of Canada “ as she leaves on her way to !!??

Last night for our supper Brenda pan-seared a ‘Fillet of Hake ‘ for me and a ‘Fillet of Pink Sea Trout’ for herself, with a little Green Vegetables and Parsley Potatoes, this evening she is keeping it simple, again, with ‘Escalope’s of Chicken Breast’ with Vegetables and Parsley Potatoes!!

Later this evening we will settle down to watch the next exciting episode of ‘Killing Eve ‘
