I was up early this morning as Lee was dropping
‘Reina’ off on his way into work in Gibraltar, he’s joining us for supper this
evening as Daniela is away in London on business; it was a little overcast but
its now cleared and the sun has just broken through, the forecast is that it
will reach 21 degs this afternoon and the night time temperature is also getting
a little better. The weekend is looking settled into the start of next week, we
can’t complain as its December!
After breakfast I got this evenings supper
on the go ‘Chicken, Ham & Mushroom Tarragon Pie’ I’ve used the Leg, Thigh
& Breast of Chicken, all diced then dusted in seasoned flour and cooked
off, the sauce is made with small diced Onion,Leeks, Celery, Carrots, Green
Beans & Red & Green Peppers, whole Baby Mushrooms, cubed Boiled Ham and
Smoked Bacon Sippits, a good glass of White Wine ( thanks Brenda!) together
with a strong Chicken & Vegetable stock and lots of Tarragon!
I then add the Chicken to the sauce and
simmer until cooked, this evening I will top the oval pie dish with the pastry
and decorate it before brushing with egg wash and popping it into the oven! Brenda
is getting ready some Broccoli Florets & Peas a la ‘Flamande’ ( with sliced
baby Carrots) Saffron New Potatoes and some small diced ‘Frits’ To start we are
having a little selection of Tapas, Spanish & English, and the dessert is
Apple Flan with local Strawberries and Vanilla Ice cream.The small pie in the picture Brenda made for Lee as a 'Take Out'!!
Before;
And after!
Before;
And after!
The other night after we came back from our
anniversary Sunday lunch we found on ‘Antena 3’ one of the main Spanish TV
channels “ The Hunger Games – Mockingjay 1 “ – I’ve only just read about the
series and so this film was either the second or third so we will have to catch
up on our film channel ‘Film On’ so as we can follow what is happening, the
mega cast of Jennifer Lawrence ( the main character ?) with Josh Hutchinson,
Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland ( the Baddie?) and in this
film Julianne Moore and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman are all excellent – we will
find out the story shortly and catch up with the plot!
PS; Just a reminder about sending ‘Postcards’
when you are out and about – as our third board is looking a little bare – and you
get one back from sunny Manilva! Thanks!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
