We had a nice lie in this morning as the
village was quiet, the sun was out early and the sky is blue, its crisp but still
very pleasant; we then had our favourite breakfast of fresh ‘Campo’ Poached
Eggs on Toast, they arrived last night still warm and ‘dirty’! See the picture
below of Brenda’s famous
dish!!
dish!!
‘Barny’ arrived a little later and is with
us until Tuesday evening ‘Chispa’ then shot in and has been playing with him
and we then went for a good walk with both of them around the lower part of the
village; this evening ‘Scruffy’ is due with us for a sleep over.
At lunchtime
Mano called in for a chat and gossip so he’s gone off with a ‘take out’ of my ‘Minestrone’
soup for his supper this evening as he’s working on the night shift at the ‘Manilva
Green Aparthotel’ as the Night Manager; this weekend here in Spain is a long
Bank Holiday until Wednesday as its the “ Constitution’ Day on Sunday & 'Immaculate Conception' on Tuesday.
At the moment in the ‘Premiere League’ over
in England Stoke are at home to Manchester City in the early kick off, then on
Sunday Liverpool travel to Newcastle and on Monday Everton are at home too
Crystal Palace; over here today in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid welcome their neighbour’s
Getafe while Valencia welcome Barcelona in Gary Neville's’ first game as the
Manager of Valencia!
For our supper this evening we are having
one of the old classics from the past; “ Steak Diane “ which I will make ‘A La
Carte’ style this evening, the trimmed Entrecote Steaks are flattened a little
and then well seasoned and smeared with French Mustard before searing them in
the pan in Butter, they are then left to rest on the side, as the sauce is made
with Sliced Mushrooms & Onions, a little chopped Garlic, a good slug of ‘Red
Wine’ ( thanks Brenda!) and some secret ingredient’s before adding the Steaks
back in the pan and flaming with a good glass of Brandy, then the double Cream
& Chopped Parsley is added to finish off the sauce. We are having whole
Baby Green Beans and some twice-cooked ‘Frits’ See below;
Last night we had a evening of channel
hopping on English TV, in the late afternoon on ‘TVE2 ( like BBC2!) we found an
episode of ‘Great Continental Railway Journeys ’with Michael Portillo, he went
from Valencia to Madrid, then down to Cordoba and onto Seville on the fast
trains before carrying onto Jerez, he then went up to Ronda and finally down
the old English built track to Algeciras, the end of the line, before ending up
in Gibraltar! As he’s half Spanish he talks to people in a ‘correct’ Spanish
but with no dialect, its very interesting and informative at the same time.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
