We had
another lie in this morning as ‘Reina’ was not due until later, she’s now back
with us on Friday morning instead of Thursday and she could also be with us
next weekend, as well as Tuesday& Thursday as normal, which fits in as
‘Freddie & Bentley’ are here for a two day sleep over on the Saturday and
Sunday – which happens to be the ‘Vendimia Festival’ weekend also! Are you following?!
The workmen
on the site were in full ‘noise’ mode this morning with the main culprit being
the ‘JCB’ as it moved up and down our street; after are regular breakfast we
sorted our selves out for the day ahead, we are showering later and getting the
outfits ready for our trip over to Estepona with Josie & Lillemor and then
lunch at ‘Cocomo’ –later we will go around the ‘Boulevard’ in San Pedro as
Lillemor has not seen it.
I’ve just
been called out by one of our neighbors Encarna to translate from English to
Spanish as she had some friends from Holland , where her daughter used to be
their nanny, they arrived at her house opposite! That’s a first!!
Speaking of
Estepona, today’s Stage 4 of the ‘Vuelta d’Espana 15’ starts on the promenade
this lunchtime and comes along the coast road by the side of the Mediterranean
before going through the underpass down in Sabinillas on its way to Vejer De La
Frontera’ over 210 kms – the route today translates as ‘Lumpy with a uphill
finish’! See the pictures above taken by Gary of the 'Resident Newspaper' - thanks!
As the coverage of today's stage started on TVE 1 it was just showing them crossing the new spectacular "La Pepa" bridge into Cadiz, its not due to open until mid September and when it does it will be the longest of its kind in Spain; you can even see the still unfinished center parts and the construction crane! Cadiz and the bay/beach are sparkling as you can see in the pictures above, taken off the TV!!
PS; Last night
So it’s a
at home day today just taking things easy catching up with the chores around
the house, well so Brenda tells me, meanwhile I’m up in the office on the WWW
catching up with all the news including ‘Black Monday and now Black Tuesday’
over in China – thankfully the ‘Euro’ is now slowly climbing back up, but not in
time for our transfers of our yearly Pensions yesterday!
At the
moment I’m listening to ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’ on the small PC while typing and
posting the Blog on the large PC; the sun is out and the sky is blue, there is
just a little breeze and the forecast for the week ahead is for more of the
same and getting even hotter as yet another ‘Heat Wave’ come across from Africa
by Saturday, when the temperatures are due to reach the high 30s again! We will
survive!!
This
evening for our supper we are having ‘Escalope of Turkey Breast’ cooked on the
griddle plate then served on a bed of Savory ‘Basmati Rice with a rich/creamy
Mushroom sauce on the side along with some local Green Beans.
After
supper we will watch the news, sport and weather updates before finding
something to watch, last night we caught the Semi-Finals of the Spanish version
of ‘Britain s Got Talent’ on TVE 1 – it was on for over 4 hours and was rather
good!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
