SUNDAY 2nd/ AUGUST 2015.
No lie in this morning as 'Scruffy' needed his early walk,he slept on the Marble floor under the bed next to the fan all night and then this morning he jumped on the bed to let us know that's it was time to go out! We had a very warm & sticky night which was not good as we couldn't get any proper sleep; the forecast for today and the week ahead is that its getting hotter again as the next warm front come in from Africa!
We just had our regular breakfast and sorted today out, we are taking things one day at a time at the moment, 'Scruffy' is being collected this morning and then Brenda is washing her hair and having a shower and I will follow her.
At lunchtime we are first going down to the newly refurbished "Bar Cafeteria El Rincon De Alcantara' which re-opened last night , it's just around the corner past the Mayor's Vegetable shop in Calla Mar at the start of the old 'Pedreta - By-Pass' As usual and the reason that we have not visited it much in the past - it was closed!?
We noticed a couple of weeks ago that there was a large skip outside with lots of stone rubbish,its all happened very quickly,by local standards, so we are going to check it out! We will then come back to Bar Castillo in time for their 'Paella' arriving! See below!!
As we walked back the 'Guerrero Clan'- Mano,Anna,Sally Ann & Carlos - were sat outside Bar Rojas so we joined then for another cool drink and a chat.
Then this evening we have been invited to the official opening of the new Museum,Exhibition & Cultural Centre " Casa Los Torres" which is just around the corner at the bottom of our street;we are then going for a late Tapas supper back at Bar Castillo!
Yesterday I rang our dear friend Tim over in Old Colwyn as of course at the moment we are not on the Skype video; we had a good catch up with all their news and firmed up on the arrangements for when they come down in their Motor Home in September for my week of celebrations for my 70th birthday!! Watch this space.
Yesterday on a Facebook page that I follow about old Liverpool is showed a picture of a steam train in Lime Street Station back in the 50s - The " Duchess of Sutherland" - see the picture below - now that's what you call a steam train!
It brought back very many happy memories of when I used to go train spotting with my Dad,Tommy Sexton. at the station on the longest platform (11?) that the London train departed from called " The Red Rose"
In my large bedroom in our house in Trevor Road ( 78) in Orrell Park where also my old school friend Allan ( 68) lived and our dear friend Joyce lived at the top of the same road - both still friends - my Dad built a Model Railway around and above my bed using the " Hornby OO " gauge, it eventually took over the room as he brought home different trains etc and built up the scenary! One of the trains that was my favourite was the same train as in the picture above but painted Maroon in the color of the"LMS" Railway Company - the " City of Liverpool"! See below;
We of course at the same time started on our travels around Europe on trains for our holidays for the next ten years - we only found out earlier this year when Josie was tracing my Dad's ancestor's, that he inherited a large sum of money, at the time, which is how we were able to travel each year to a different country and also how he was able to build up the Model Railway and all the trains and rolling stock!!
PS; It has just been reported the Cilla Black (72) has died of natural causes at her holiday villa in Estepona, over night - R.I.P. our 'Cilla'
Thoughts for the Day; See below.
