Well it was
an ‘Enchanted’ night in sunny Manilva for the “Noche de Embrujo” as you can see
in the pictures below; the main street lights are turned off and its just the
effect lighting on the trees and buildings along with small candle lights along
the street which is covered in wild Rosemary branches which as people walk on
them the aromas waft up!
The whole
village was out in its finest and all the six bars in ‘Calle Mar’ were packed
and doing a roaring business in food & drink; the three stages are in use
as the various performers move from one to the other; this year it was Fandango
singers, Flamenco singers and a local group as well as Flamenco dancers taking
to the stages.
All the
balconies along the street have shawls draped on them and there was a flood lit
‘sign board’ for people to take pictures in front off as you cane see – our
neighbor Pilar and her daughter, also, Pilar where just before us! A rather
special night once again in sunny Manilva.
So this
morning we managed a little lie in before the street cleaners came along and
all the staging was taken down; fresh Orange Juice (local) to start with our
regular breakfast before getting this evenings supper ready, I’m roasting the
‘Marinated Lamb’ later this afternoon and then leaving it to rest while the
‘Fondant’ Potatoes go in the oven to cook – Brenda ‘turns’ the selected
potatoes into the classic barrel shape which are then placed in the oven dish,
seasoned, and the ‘Chicken & Vegetable’ stock is added, but not covering
them as the tops are left exposed and knobs of butter placed on them!
I will make
traditional pan gravy after taking out all the marinated vegetables which are
then used as a vegetable dish along with some Baby Carrots & local whole
Green Beans, lots of Mint Sauce and Redcurrant Jelly on the side! We can’t wait
– the taste buds are salivating just at the thought! !See below!!
After then
freshening up we are going down to the Art Gallery in the ‘Wine Museum’ as
there is a photographic exhibition on show; we are then coming back up to ‘Bar
Castillo for our regular ‘Paella’ lunch. The rest of the day we are taking
things easy, watching the ‘Vuelta d’Espana 15’ before our ‘Happy Hour’ and then
after supper we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather updates;
‘TVE 1’ is showing more football coverage of the ‘La Liga’ this year including
a live match this evening and later a round up and analysis of all the games.
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
