COOL AND DRY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 4th/ FEBRUARY 2014.

This morning I was up early and after my tea and toast (Thanks Brenda!) I went and picked Andy up to go across to La Linea to the Traffic Department to finalize the transfer of my English license to Spanish; nearly there as all the paperwork was fine and the correct documents were duly stamped – now I have to wait for all the paperwork to be verified over in England and will then receive a E-Mail to go and collect my new Spanish license and pass in the English one – back in La Linea!

One document that was not necessary was the medical certificate, you don’t need one for the transfer – this means that I was totally miss-lead by the people down in the ‘Sabimedic’ office which cost 40 euros – I’ am going to call in and tell them my thoughts – after all it was the village doctor and Deputy Mayor that did the certificate, he owns the business!!

The pictures above show the ‘Rock’ on a grey day and the new cruise liner that is now docked in the Gibraltar marina, permantly as a floating hotel and conference centre.We called again into McDonalds again for the 'Sausage & Egg Mac-Muffins !!

Yesterday evening we went across to the hospital for Brenda’s appointment with the Eye consultant, after all sorts of tests – a good result as everything is fine and she only needs one more check up in March;now for the bad news/good news day - the hospital has just called to say that my 'Prostrate Biopsy' is next Monday at 5-00pm !! Oh B----R !!
.
When we got back I followed the Manchester City v Chelsea game – not good as City lost 0-1 and did not play well, Jose Mourinho had done everything right and Chelsea totally outplayed City!

Yesterday evening I also received a long E-mail for our fried John who had visited on our recommendation “ The Montgomery Pub & Kitchen” in Eastham village on the Wirral where he lives; it read like a classic “Michael Winner” ‘Critique’ that the late-departed food connoisseur who used to write in the ‘Sunday Times ! Thanks John, we look forward to more of them in the future!! I totally agree with your comment about the policy of the ‘New Moon Pub Company’ of only adding a fixed cash amount (£ 10-50) to each bottle of wine to encourage the drinking of the finer stuff! We have done this for many year’s in all our business’s and also when out always drank the finest wines off the lists knowing that the mark-up was low! That was my excuse anyway!!

Tonight we are having ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with sautéed Baby Mushrooms and crispy-fried Onions, mine topped with a fried Campo Egg and Brenda’s with deep-fried Garlic buds, finely sliced Green Beans, twice-cooked chips and a little ‘Béarnaise’ sauce on the side. We will then catch up with the news, sport and weather reports, in the rest of Spain especially along the Northern coast and in San Sebastian yesterday they had severe storms and damage but as usual we have missed most of it, the next two days are slightly damp but it’s due to pick up over the weekend.

Thought for the Day; See above.
