A RAINY AND WET DAY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 5th/ FEBRUARY 2014.

Well I suppose it had to happen sometime – it’s raining – for the first time in eight month’s (Xmas day storm excepted!)!! So we wrapped up in the wet-proofs and set off out after our tea and toast; first stop was Estepona so as I could go to my Barber’s ‘Manuel’ for the full works,shampoo.cut. shave and massage! Brenda called into the jewelers next door and got her watch checked and a new battery. To start we went to our favorite breakfast café in ‘Calla Real’ for a coffee( very good!) and tostado served very quickly by the proficient regular waitress.

Brenda then set off into the pedestrian-only shopping street to go to the large cosmetic shop for some essentials including a good face-cream; I then met up with her just as she spotted the sale in the new dress bag and shoe shop opposite, she came out with two pairs of boots on the ‘241’ offers!! Black ankle boots and a very nice pair of knee-high brown Swede boots – and cheap as well !!

It was then time to carry on to the hospital past Marbella for my lunchtime appointment with the ‘Dermatology’ consultant – alls fine and no more visits except he spotted as he was going through my records that I have not had a Chest X-Ray over here so I’ am getting the surgery to arrange a visit to Estepona Hospital so as my doctor can give me the once over! On the way out I checked on my appointment on Monday to find out where ‘Admissions’ is ! Andy is taking us across as it’s his day off – they tell you not to drive afterwards.

I’ve just posted on my Facebook page the new ‘Facebook Movie’ that came on-line yesterday, it’s very good, everybody is using it, it’s set to music and chooses the pictures from your page as well as showing the details – very impressed and easy and quick to set up!

Tonight for supper we are having ‘Baked English-cut Pork Chops’ with glazed Fuji Apple slices, Cabbage with Acelgas, crushed Carrots with Baby Turnips and cooked local Potatoes diced and tossed in foaming Butter with diced Red & Yellow Peppers,Leek,Onions then added which I have just cooked off ready. The Smoked Trout that Claus brought on Sunday were delicious - ‘ Lecker?!’ as Doreen would say in German – with Horseradish sauce!

Last nights film was “ The Natural” from 1984 with Robert Redford in the main role of an aging baseball player with a history, Glen Close and Kim Bassinger are the love interest and Robert Duval.Micheal Madsen and Joe Don Baker are also in the cast. Later tonight over here in the ‘Copa Del Rey’ it’s the first-leg of the semi-finals, first its Real Madrid v Atl.Madrid then later Barcelona v Real Sociedad!! 3-0  to Real Madrid in a nasty/bad tempered game,2-0 to Barcelona - the second legs next week.

Thought for the Day; See above.
