SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF A HOT WEEK

MONDAY 10th/ JUNE 2013.

We are now in our full summer mode; it is warm as we get up and by mid-morning it’s getting hotter, the forecast is looking very good for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend. At the same time in Northern Spain in the 'Navarra' wine region they have had torrential rain and floods when a dam broke!

We have just come back from Sabinillas, we went down on the bus and did the scenic route around and back up to the village; I called into the bank and we then picked up a picture frame for Jack and Lyn’s photo; we always put a picture in our guest’s bedroom, so we have one frame which has Norah and Jenny’s photo ready; we are going to put a ‘Welcome’ pack in the folks apartment at Manilva Green with Tea Bag,Coffee,Milk,Sugar,Bread and Butter, Orange juice and ‘Weetabix’ for Norah and Jenny! We will also get two small flower plants on Friday to brighten up their bedrooms. Brenda found a nice ‘Kaftan’ top in a new Boutique in Sabinillas at the same time but I don’t think that we are finished yet!

The heavy cleaning and washing is nearly over, Brenda is now concentrating on clothes; next on the sports front it is ‘Royal Ascot’ the week of Brenda’s birthday, then it’s ‘Wimbledon’ and at the end of the month the start of the ‘Tour de France’ and the ‘British Grand Prix’ from Silverstone.

Brenda will retire upstairs to the roof terrace later in the afternoon as it gets too hot earlier on, I will then join her for cocktails in the early evening as we catch up with our reading. Tonight for supper we having rare griddled Minute steak with sautéed Mushrooms and Onions, crisp, twice cooked chips and sliced Green Beans before we channel hop.

We found a nice easy film to watch on TVE2 with no violence of any sort, just a very moving and well acted story about three 40 something women in rural England - called "Crush" from 2001 with the very watchable Andie MacDowell,Imelda Staunton and Anna Chanellor along with Kenny Doughty - catch it and have a hankie ready !!

Thought for the Day; See above, for friends missed!
