SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF A SPORTS WEEKEND

FRIDAY 28th/ JUNE 2013.


Today is already this morning hot and sunny and by the afternoon it will be up to 28degs and the seven day forecast is more of the same and hotter; we have just come back from the shopping down in Sabinillas and after unpacking we have been for a walk with the dog( See the picture of her after her shampoo at the vets yesterday) around the bottom of the village, the work on the new ‘Plaza Vendimia’ is going along at a great pace, this lunchtime they are working on the fountain and the waterfall by the side of the Mural, the walls and walkways have been clad in ‘Manilva’ stone as you can see in the pictures above.The Bullfighting poster is for next weekend in Estepona;Diego Ventura is the top 'Horseback' bullfighter and Juan Jose Padilla ( The Pirate) is one of the top five bullfighters in the country'

We are back into our reading and have swapped our current ‘Patterson’s’ yesterday with one-another and Brenda is out on the roof terrace in the late afternoons, I join her in the early evening for our ‘Happy 2 Hours’

This evening we are having Grilled Pink Trout fillets with Hollandaise sauce, crushed Baby new Potatoes and Garden Peas for supper.

This weekend, in fact today is the start of the music festival at “ Glastonbury ” with the ‘Rolling Stones’ playing at the festival for the first time in their 50 year career tomorrow night on the main stage in front off the 135.000 crowd! Other’s appearing include Dizze Rascal,Mumford &Sons, Primal Scream, Smashing Pumpkins and Elvis Costello to name just a few! See the spectacular pictures above of the Festival site.

SPORTS UPDATE;

Football; The final of the ‘FIFA Confederations Cup’on Sunday in Rio De Janeiro will be between Brazil and Spain after Spain beat Italy in a penalty shoot out last night 7-6 in the semi-final!

Tennis; Its raining at Wimbledon as Andy Murray looks to progress today under the roof of the Centre Court; he has his best chance of winning the tournament after Nadel and then Federer crashed out, also Tsonga retired injured so he has only Djokvic to beat! Fingers crossed!! Murray won !!!

Cycling; The 100th “ Tour de France ”starts tomorrow for the first time in Corsica over the narrow and tricky road with the 1st stage taking place from Porto Vecchio to Bastia over 213kms on flat roads with a sprint finish – watch out for Mark Cavendish winning and taking the Yellow Jersey!!

Motor GP; The Netherlands Grand Prix at Assen is also this weekend but sadly no Jorge Lorenzo as he crashed in the rain yesterday in practice and broke his Collarbone! Cal Crutclhow is on pole for today's race,the first British rider in a decade!

Grand Prix; This weekend it also the “ British Grand Prix ”at Silverstone,todays first practice session was in the wet!!  Today,Saturday Lewis Hamilton has just taken the pole position for Sunday's race !!

Rugby Union; The British & Irish Lions take on Australia in the second test on Saturday morning at the ‘ANZ Stadium; in Sydney after beating the ‘Melbourne Rebels’ 0-35 in their mid-week match.Half time score Aus 9 -Lions 12 !  FINAL SCORE - AUSTRALIA 16-BRITISH & IRISH LIONS 15

ONE “ HELLUVA ” WEEKEND OF SPORT;

The late film on TVE1 was a " Helluva " movie made in 2006, it is a American crime thriller called " The Departed " and takes place in Boston; it is based loosely on actual gangster's and corrupt FBI agents,it stars Leonardo DiCaprio,Matt Damon,Jack Nicholson,Mark Wahlberg,Martin Sheen,Ray Winston,Alex Baldwin and Vera Farmiga - you must watch it from start to the very end as the story has many twists,it was directed by Martin Scorsese and won many awards including 4 'Oscars' for Best Picture,Director, Scorsese's first,Adapted Screenplay and Film Editing!
