SUNNY MANILVA MELBOURNE AND OLD COLWYN

SUNDAY 2nd/JUNE 2013.

This morning is yet another glorious day in sunny Manilva; the sun was flooding in through our bedroom shutters as we got up. After our tea and toast I made the ‘Lancashire Hotpot’ for tonight’s dinner, sadly Mano and Anna can’t join us as Mano has started a new job; he has parted company with the Villa in Sotogrande and has already started work as the Restaurant Manager of a restaurant in Estepona Port “ El Gaucho ” The Hotpot is made to my special recipe, I used Spanish Lamb Cutlets and also this time I cut up a blade of shoulder Lamb as well. I add diced Carrots,Celery,Leek and Swede along with my secret ingredients with the usual sliced Potatoes and Onions!

Later in the morning we made contact with Jack and Lyn over in Melbourne on the Skype video; they are both very well and have just started to pack as the fly on Friday and land at Manchester Airport at 7-45am on Saturday! Jack has arranged a hire car so they will then drive over to Norah’s and hopefully find her house in the ‘Runcorn/Bermuda Triangle’!! – Where Jenny will also be waiting !!

Last night in the final games of the season in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid won 4-2 and Barcelona 4-1 and Malaga just managed to get into the ‘Europe’ league; this lunchtime I have been watching the Motor GP from Mugello in Italy, Jorge Lorenzo won the Moto 3 as Marquez crashed out for the second time this weekend and Rossi also had a nasty fall – Britain’s Scott Redding won the Moto 2 again ! In cycling over the next week it is the eight stage ‘ Criterium du Dauphine’ which features several mountain climbs, including an accent of the legendary ‘Alpe d’Huez’ and is used as a warm up for the ‘Tour de France’ that starts on the 29th June! Chris Froome is favorite as Wiggins is out of both races, he has won the ‘Dauphine’ for the last two years and of course the ‘Tour de France’ last year! No joy in finding live coverage of the cycling but I've just found it on Monday

PS; Over here in Spain on our TV we have over 50 channels, national, regional, local, sports and film along with some general ones; as I was channel hopping on Sunday afternoon/evening I suddenly found on one of the more obscure ones live coverage of the 'French Open Tennis' from Paris! It was near the end of a five set marathon with Roger Federer playing the Frenchman, and the crowd,Simon !Federer won - just, in the end.

PPS; More luck later in the evening just as I was going upstairs to the office to catch the ITV coverage of the Brazil v England match from the new ' Maracana' stadium in Rio De Janeiro, I found on the main Spanish sports channel TDP live coverage of the game ! No gaols in the first half due to Jo Hart saving all the shots, mainly from the new wonder kid Neymar, who has just joined Barcelona! The second half had the goals with two wonder ones from Oxlade-chamberlain and Rooney but Brazil also scored two 2-2 the result!

We have just spotted that the ‘Moffatt’s’ over in Old Colwyn were on the Skype video so we have spoken to them in their garden with Patrick and Beth,Jo and Ben – they were on the Gin and Tonic’s feeling no pain! PS;Don’t forget the ‘Car stickers’!! Brenda is now back up on the roof terrace and I will join her later for our ‘Cocktail Hour’

Thought for the Day; See above.
