A STILL VERY WARM BUT SLIGHTLY OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;
WEDNESDAY 12th/ AUGUST 2015.
" NEWSFLASH"
Well as you can see I'm back online after being off line for two days with a technical problem with all my "Google' connections; I've been trying since Monday afternoon to sort the problem out, with no luck,then this morning it suddenly came back online with out my help?!
Just a quick update from the last two days; on Monday we went across to Estepona with Den & Josie as I was going to my Barber's 'Manuel' to have two inches off! We started with coffee & toastado and then went our seperate ways for some shopping and retail therapy; Brenda found a new top in 'Mango' and some nice sandal's next door, as well as some essential cosmetics.
See the picture below of part of the large fishing fleet that operates out of the harbour in Estepona which happened to be in port on Monday morning'
We met up with Den & Josie and had a cool drink before trying a restaurant on the main street behind the promenade where we had a nice meal, Brenda has the marinated Pork Brochettes,Josie had the deep fried Chiparones - Baby Squid,Den had a large 'slab' of the house three Cheese Pizza and I had my usual Chicken a la Plancha with chips! Thanks Josie for the nice comments about the day out and also the cold 'Risotto' for your supper! See below ,the pictures of our meal.
On Tuesday 'Reina' was with us for the day; its very' muggy' at the moment and going a little cooler before picking up again over the weekend,when I sat 'cooler' its down to 33 degs! The workmen on the site are still arriving on the early shift,the 'Brickee's' are shooting up the walls, as you can see in the pictures above - our roof 'Box' is now a 'Compond' - its gone twice as high!!
This morning after breakfast Brenda shot off to catch the bus down to Sabinillas as she had an appointment at her hairdresser's for wash,blow and cut,she's coming back up on the bus later; meanwhile I'm now up in the office catching up on the WWW. after being out of action for two days!
Over the weekend over in the UK in the 'Premier League' Liverpool beat Stoke 0-1 & Manchester City beat West Brom 0-3 and last night Barcelona won the 'UEFA Super Cup' for the fifth time beating Sevilla 5-4 in a very exciting match.
Yesterday afternoon our Swedish friend Lillemor called in for a chat and Josie came around with her grand daughter 'Masie' who is over for ten days with her Mother and little sister staying with them.
I popped up to 'Bar Rojas' to celebrate with Kieno and bumped into a couple sat out side that said 'Hello Malcolm' - it turned out to be Jan's ( Charlie) daughter Joanna and her partner Tom,we had a nice long chat and catch up as we had only met her briefly once before!
On the Menu front last night we had flattened Chicken Breast with 'Breton' Style Potatoes & Diamond cut Green Beans and this evening we are having a 'Spanish'Fry-Up - 'Salteado' using anything that I can find!
This evening we will catch up with all the latest news,sport and weather up-dates before finding something to watch.
PS; Jenny & Norah's postcards have just arrived from Brixham - thanks !!

A VERY STICKY SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;
SUNDAY 9th/ AUGUST 2015.
Another nice lie in this morning as the village is dead, the 'Feria' was still rocking down in the valley at 5-00 am this morning! Its still very warm at night, with a lot more to come, so sleeping is difficult to say the least,you end up stuck to the sheets and everywhere you touch is sticky! See below a picture taken by Den this morning of the 'Sunrise' over the village!
For breakfast we treated our selves to 'Smoked Bacon Butties' with a mug of Tea; at lunchtime we are going up to ' Bar Castillo' for our regular 'Paella' made by Juan's wife Paqui,she arrives with it at 2-00 pm and its all gone by 2 15 pm!
Then this evening for our supper I'm making my special " Smoked Chicken & Broad Bean Risotto" using Spanish 'Arroz Redondo' from Valencia, I saute off some finely chopped Onion,without color, add the rice and deglaze the pan with a good slug of White Wine( Brenda's) Then its time to slowly add the rich Chicken & Vegetable stock, stirring all the time, when the rice is still 'Aldente' I add the cooked & skinned Broad Beans( Brenda) along with the diced cooked Smoked Chicken, and season to taste as it finishes cooking,at the end I drop in a good hand full of Parmesan Cheese !See below;
In 'Calle Mar' this afternoon and into the evening there are two bands playing which unusually have been arranged and paid for by the local bars 'Rojas,Castillo,Nacho,Ocana & Plaza'! They approached the Town Hall and were told that they had no money in the 'coffers'?! So to create some much needed extra business they took matters into their own hands!!
They started just as we arrived at Bar Castillo for our Paella,on the stage in front of the Town Hall there was a Lady 'Karaoke' singer and on the stage by 'Bar Luque' at the top of 'Calle Mar' it was a two piece 'Combo' - see below.
Over the weekend we have decided to create a 'Roof Top Patio in the Sky' after the walls have been rendered and painted (White,hopefully) We are going to hang assorted wall pots with hardy plants and along the bottom some decorative Mosaic Tiles!! Watch this space.
Over in the UK the 'Premier League' gets into full swing as Liverpool travel down to Stoke and tomorrow Manchester City go down the M6 to play West Brom! Everton could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to Watford.yesterday; over in the USA its the Motor GP at the Indianapolis Speedway.
Later this evening after catching up with the news we will settle down to find a good film to follow.
PS; The Blog will be posted in the afternoon on Monday as we are going over to Estepona with Den & Josie in the morning!

A VERY CLOSE & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;
SATURDAY 8th/ AUGUST 2015.
We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is always quiet after all being down at the 'Feria' into the wee small hours! I put the gas bottle out and the delivery man came along a little later to exchange it,the price has dropped a bit,its controlled by the Government.
The 'Poached Egg Queen' was on fine form and produced two fine examples for me,the 'Campo Eggs' arrived fresh this morning - see the picture below!
We then planned our day ahead,Brenda is washing her hair and freshening up,I will catch up later; we are out this evening earlier than normal as the " Feria Queens" parade is starting at 5-30 pm, we are going up to 'Bar Rojas' for our 'Happy Hour' and I will post some pictures later. See above.We met Den & Josie who joined us for a cool drink.
Last night we had a very enjoyable night out on the town( village) for the staffs night off! We started as 'Bar Castillo' where we ended up sitting with Adrian & Rose with 'Scruffy' under the table,then our Irish friends Mick( Miguel) & Lllona came along with their two small children Lucas & Amelia, it was their 7th wedding anniversary. then some of their friends came along and joined the party!
We had a different Tapas to start,a small 'Pincho' of Smoked local Bacon topped with a fried Quails Egg - delicious! We then headed off back down to 'Bar Rojas' where Kieno was on fine form, he recommend for Brenda a fillet of 'Rosado A La Plancha' cooked in a Parsley & Garlic Olive Oil dressing,she had a nice Tomato & Onion Salad on the side, she really enjoyed it,she was looking forward to her fish supper!
I had my currant favourite of the 'Burger Steak' with fried Green Peppers,the house homemade 'Frits' and not forgetting a 'Campo' Soft Fried Egg; - perfect! We sat and watched the 'World' - well suuny Manilva - go by as they all headed off down to the 'Feria Ground'down in the valley.
When we return this evening we are having for our supper,once again, 'Entrecote Minute Steak' - I trim the steaks 'French Style' and then gently flatten them,they are cooked on a very hot griddle plate 'Med-Rare' with on the side some sauteed Baby Mushrooms,we are having them with a Mixed Salad and a Dry Baked Potato and lots of Dijon Mustard! Sometimes I smear the steaks with the mustard - a 'poor mans' " Steak Diane"! See below - taken with my Mobile phone!
Tomorrows menu has a 'Rice' theme as we are going up to 'Bar Castillo' at lunchtime for Paqui's famous Paella and then in the evening for our supper I'm making my famous " Smoked Chicken & Broad Bean Risotto"!
This evening I will also watch all the highlights of the start of the 'Premier League' Football over in the UK,next weekend its the turn of the 'La Liga' to kick off; oh and yes England winning the ' Ashes' later this morning!! ENGLAND HAVE JUST WON !!
In the picture below you can see 'Madame Bollinger' riding her famous bicycle through the vine fields outside the village of 'Ay' in the heart of the Champagne region,when were were guests of the family we saw the old bike still standing in the hall way in her memory!!
