MONDAY EVENING OF 'CANADA WEEK' DOWN IN THE PUERTO DE LA DUQUESA MARINA !

MONDAY 30^th/ SEPTEMBER 2019.  “ CANADA WEEK- DAY TWO “

MONDAY EVENING;

We called a taxi and shot down to the ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ to meet Sandra & Bill, where we had a nice ‘ Welcome’ drink, sat overlooking the marina, on a ‘ Balmy’ evening.

Dylan & Kritika then came along and joined us for supper, so we had a nice ‘ catch-up ‘ with them,  there will be some more pictures, at a later date, as ‘ Kritika’ has a top of the range Mobile ( extremely expensive!) – the picture quality is excellent- you get what you pay for!! It was then time to go up to the ‘ Kinnaree Thai Restaurante ‘ where the lady owner greeted us and we had a lovely table sat outside on the terrace overlooking the marina.

I had to start the ‘ Thai Chicken Spring Rolls’ & the ‘ Dim Sum, Steamed Prawn Dumplings’ For our main courses, Brenda had ‘ Sizzling Lamb with Ginger, Spring Onions & Garlic in Oyster sauce’  with Vegetable Chow Mien Noodles’ Sandra the ‘ Crispy Roast Peking Duck with Hoi Sin sauce’ Kritika, who is vegetarian, had a ‘Noodle dish with Tofu’ – Dylan choose a  savoury ‘Chicken Stir Fry in Fresh Pineapple and Bill also had the ‘Sweet & Sour Chicken in Fresh Pineapple’ As usual I had the ‘Massamen King Prawn Curry ***’ with the ‘Three Delights Fried Rice’

" JESUS NAZARENO" PROCESSION ON THURSDAY EVENING;

FRIDAY 3^rd/ APRIL 2015.         “GOOD FRIDAY”

Yesterday evening we went up to Bar Rojas for our supper, we arrived just as a large family from Seville of 30 people also arrived unannounced, later, 14 of the local ‘Maria’s’ came along after Mass for their supper, so Lumy & Manolo were rather busy to say the least!

We had a nice meal, Brenda had a Tapas of ‘Albondigas’ & ‘Carne Tomate’ with Chips and I had the Pork a la ‘Plancha’ with two fried Campo Eggs and Chips; so we then had another drink and sat and waited for the 11-00pm procession to arrive, it finally came into Calle Mar at midnight by what time Brenda had a couple of warming Brandies and I had some ‘shots’!

The evening was as the locals said a ‘Poco Fresco’ and we called it a ‘Poco Frio’ – so we wrapped up and waited in the deserted streets all alone! When the procession finally arrived it came down into Calla Mar from the narrowest street after going the long way around the village; it turned out the whole village was behind the ‘Trono – Tableau’ which was led by the ‘Cross’ and then the church ‘Servers’ followed by the 'Nazareno's' in their tall Black 'Capirote's',next the Civic Dignitaries and the Manilva Brass Band.

Outside ‘Café Plaza’ the ‘Trono’ stopped for a traditional ‘Saeta – Salute’ song from the singer on the balcony above , as he sings the ‘Trono’ sways from left to right to  single drum beat!

Next in front of ‘Bar Rojas’ it stopped again and an 11year old girl server, Anna, sang the most moving and spell bounding ‘Saeta’ in a lament to ‘Jesus Nazareno’ from the balcony of our friend Lucy opposite. The ‘Trono’ this time gently swayed in total silence as her voice carried in the cold night air. The whole village broke into a spontaneous rapturous applause. It was very moving and one of the most memorable evening processions ever! See the pictures below;
