A VERY GREY, OVERCAST, COLD AND LATER WET SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 18th/ JANUARY 2020.

We had a nice, long, lie in this morning after a ‘ Helluva’ day yesterday - ( more later) - as usual the village is even quieter on a Saturday morning, after freshening up I had Brenda’s famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast’- scrambled for herself, with mugs of hot/strong tea, to set us up for the day ahead.

This morning, as forecast, has started grey & overcast, with a stiff breeze, as the wet, windy & cold ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, we are in for a prolonged spell of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ over the weekend and all of next week! Today it will only reach 16 degs+ down to just 8 degs during the night, with moderate to heavy ‘RAIN’ hitting us later, the same tomorrow, next week is not looking much better, with cold winds, the overall temperatures hovering in the low ‘ Teens’ at 12/13 degs+ - colder at night, with ‘RAIN’ on most days, patchy clouds all the times and no sunshine in sunny Manilva!!  Watch this space.

Unlike yesterday lunchtime as it was hot & sunny, we went for our walk along ‘ Calle Mar’ – we sat on the sunny side of the street, in the hot sunshine, outside ‘ Bar Castillo’ for a nice cool drink and some of their excellent ‘Tapas’ including Grilled Salmon & Tempura Hake!

Opposite and next to the Bar, down the steep ‘Calle Boliva’ is the new lady ‘Dentists’ surgery, it was open so I popped across to make contact as we both need a check-up/review, as our normal Dentist, Victor, for the past few years, is now retired, I was greeted by the receptionist, who is a local lady, we know her family, and we are going to call into see ‘Poloma’ next week!

As I came back up the street I ended up ‘flying through the air’ onto my chest ( right top)  I had tripped over an open/raised drain cover, which I did not see, our friend Mario the Mayor will hear about it! Three ‘ Senoritas’ – sat outside ‘Bar Castillo’ came to my rescue, running over and picking me up, as Brenda shot across the street! I was winded and rather sore, to say the least, but managed to carry on and finish our drinks & ‘Tapas’! I’m now stiff and sore but with no broken bones, after taking the tablets and being rubbed with ointment by my ‘ Night Nurse’!! Watch this space.

Just before this happened a mate, ‘Elvis’ of the garage man, Pedro, came along and asked me ‘ What is happening with your car’? I gave him my thoughts in ‘plain’ Spanish/English about what we think about Pedro and our treatment, he was surprised and said sorry, later he came across to us with Pedro on his phone, who we have not been able to reach, on a bad line, I let him know what we thought ****** about him! He has promised that it will all be sorted by Monday/Tuesday, which we have heard before, watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend; over in the ‘Premiere League’ - Manchester City are at home to Crystal Palace and Everton travel down the M1 to play West Ham Utd, on Sunday it’s the ‘ Match of the Day’ as Liverpool welcome Manchester Utd. Over here in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid are at home to Sevilla and Barcelona, on Sunday, welcome Granada.

The ‘ National Hunt Racing’ this afternoon is from Ascot.

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘Grilled Rib of Beef on the Bone’  - cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ the left to rest, before taking it off the bone and slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms & Shallots, accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

Tomorrow it’s going to be a “ Roast ‘ Lemon’ Chicken “ with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing and my famous ‘ Finger-Licking’ Pan Gravy, with ‘ Goose-Fat’ Roast Potatoes and lots of fresh Vegetables, watch this space.

It’s a at home day today, so we are taking things very easy, relaxing and in my case recuperating! We had another nice news/catch-up from Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada last night, they are in for more severe/heavy Snow Storms/Blizzards, it was on the main UK news this morning! " Take Care "

We also had an ‘E-Mail’ from our friends Kevin & Caroline, from Brighton, letting us know that they are coming over for few days at the start of February, to their apartment in Sabinillas, so we are arranging to go out for lunch one day.

After supper this evening we will settle down to watch the next exciting episode of the Norwegian police/crime drama ‘ Wisting’ on ‘BBC FOUR’ - with sub-titles!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
