We had a nice, long, lie in this morning,
the village was as usual very quiet, after freshening up Brenda popped down to
the local ‘Sub-Post Office’ to get a birthday card in the post. When she
returned, as she was on the breakfast rota I had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached
Eggs on Toast, boiled for her, with toast fingers, with mugs of strong/ hot
tea, to set us up for the weekend.
Over in Liverpool, down at the Pier Head
yesterday evening, the ‘ Fab Four’ went for a stroll in the early evening, see
below.
The sun was out first thing and the sky is
bright blue and cloudless, there is not a breath of air, so by lunchtime it
will be 30 degs+ - very hot & sunny,
overnight down to 18 degs, all the fans are in action, tomorrow will be a
little cooler as a new ‘ Atlantic’ front blows in, hovering in the mid 20s,
next week is looking the same, with lots of sunshine, a few patchy clouds at
times, by next weekend it could be cooler as the wind get’s up, down to just 20
degs, overnight back down to 12/13 degs, with on one forecast the threat of the
‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, for the start of the following week?! Watch this space.
On the sports front this weekend it’s all
happening; over in the ‘ Premiere League’ tomorrow it’s the final games of the
season, Everton are down at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City travel down to
play Brighton & Hove Albion, meanwhile Liverpool are at home to
Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City have a 1 point lead over Liverpool, to
win the ‘Premiere League’ for the second time and must win, Liverpool must also
win, in case Manchester City draw or loose!!
Over here in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona, the
Champions, are at home to Getafe, Real Madrid travel to Real Sociedad. Up in
Barcelona it’s also the ‘ Spanish Grand Prix’ qualifying today, with the race
tomorrow.
This afternoon we will be watching the ‘
Horse Racing’ from Ascot, Haydock & Lingfield Park’ over the jumps and on
the flat, yesterday we caught the flat racing from a very wet ‘Chester May’
meeting, the racecourse is known as the ‘ Roodee’ - the oldest and smallest racecourse in the
UK.
Later we will catch the Rugby Union as Leinster
take on the Saracens in the ‘ European Champions Cup’ – taking place at ‘ St James
Park ‘ in Newcastle, with more than 20 internationals and 10 ‘ British and
Irish Lions’ playing, including the player of the year ‘ Jonny Sexton ‘ for
Leinster and the England captain ‘Own Farrell’ – the Saracens fly-half!
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Grilled Fillet Steaks’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – Pink no
blood, then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushroom
& Baby Shallots, accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce, served with
whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans & ‘ triple’ cooked ‘ Frits’
This evening after supper we will be channel
hopping, as usual, to find something to watch.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
