THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A ' FRESH ' AND VERY SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF A ' HELLUVA' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 31st / MAY 2019.

I was up very early again this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot onto her duvet, as usual, I then had a quick freshen up and shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping, as ‘ItZabar’ is on holiday, I popped along to a local Bar for my tostado & tea before ‘ Mercadona opened, which was busier than normal, I called into the ‘English Bookshop’ for the local newspapers and a birthday card, watch out it could be you?!

I next called into the main ‘ White Goods’ shop ‘ Muebles Bernardo Muñoz ‘ – who are always very helpful and pleasant, for a new ‘ Stack-Fan’ for the bedroom. It was then time to go along to the far end of the promenade to the local market for our fresh flowers & wall plants, finally I stopped at ‘ Super Sol’- which is being refurbished and is a total mess, the ‘ Manager’ showed me around with my list of the ‘English’ essentials!

The sun was out first thing as I shot down through the very green vine fields, with the ‘Mediterranean’ sparking in the morning sunshine, the clouds had  cleared and the sky was bright blue, as the breeze had got up, by this afternoon it’s due to reach 25 degs+ - overnight hovering on the 16/17 degs mark, over the weekend it’s going a little warmer as the breeze drops, next week starting on Monday/Tuesday it will be 29/30 degs+ - staying in the high 20s for the rest of the week and then going hotter next weekend, watch this space.

See below the green vine fields in the valley below the village.

Over in Liverpool yesterday the “ Crown Princess’ berthed at the Pier Head, the pictures below were taken from ‘ A Ferry Across The Mersey “!

This evening Lee is joining us for supper, we are having ‘Fillets of Hake ‘ coated in my special recipe ‘ Cruzcampo Beer Batter ‘ – shallow fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, served with lots of Lemon Wedges and Homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce, with ‘ Mushy Peas ‘ and ‘ Triple’ cooked ‘ Chips’ – a small section of light ‘Tapas’ to start and ‘ Chocolate Profiteroles’ with local Strawberries for ‘Pud’!

Tomorrow evening we have now arranged to go out with Kevin & Caroline for supper, as it’s our last chance before they go home to Brighton, as from Sunday we have ‘Lolo’ joining us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’  for her three week holiday. I have booked a table at the  “ Kinnaree Thai Restaurant ‘ overlooking the ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ – we are going down in a taxi and on the way collecting the folks from their apartment in Sabinillas, watch this space.

Sadly the last time at 'Kokomo'!

This afternoon and tomorrow we will be watching the ‘Giro d’Italia’ as the next two stages are in the ‘ Dolomites’ with a colossal stage on Saturday, with five consecutive climbs! The Race finishes on Sunday in Verona with unusually, for a ‘Grand Tour’ - a 17 kms individual time trial?!

We are having an ‘at home’ day, taking things easy and relaxing, we will catch up with all the news & weather reports later, as well as all the ‘Quiz Shows’ that we follow, this evening we will watch the final ( 5?!) Semi Final of “ Britain’s Got Talent’- then later channel hopping.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A ' FRESH' AND NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 30th/ MAY 2019.

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she was dropped off by Lee, as Daniela is away in London on business and her parents are over in the UK visiting family, Lee is going to join us for a ‘ Fish n’ Chip Supper ‘ tomorrow evening, as ‘Reina’ is back on Friday also, she shot into her duvet, as usual, she keeps to herself and is very easy to look after.

On Sunday morning, early, ‘Lolo’ is being dropped off by ‘Marta’ for her  extended summer break, as her folks are going on holiday to Mexico, she will bring her bed with her etc, all the locals know her, as ‘Marta’ is from a Manilva family and works at the local Surgery, as the ‘Senior Medic’ on the ambulance.

We then had a little lie in before getting the day on the go, after freshening up as I was on the breakfast rota I had a ‘Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – again, for a change, not toasted, but on soft buttered white bread, smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown toast for Brenda & ‘Reina’! Not forgetting the mugs of strong/hot ‘PG’ Tips Tea.

This morning started a little grey & overcast, but as the breeze stiffened, the clouds have cleared and the sun has broken through and the sky is now blue, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 23 degs+ tomorrow and over the weekend going a little warmer each day, next week, on Monday/Tuesday hovering on the 30 degs+ mark, staying warm & sunny, with a few patchy clouds, for the rest of the week and next weekend, as it goes a little cooler, as the breeze pick up, dropping again to the low 20s, watch this space.

See below a spectacular view over Liverpool yesterday evening at dusk.

Over in Liverpool during the weekend the old “ MV Daffodil “ the ‘Mersey Ferry’ boat, built at ‘Cammell Laird’s’ in Birkenhead, back in 1962, was towed into a cradle/hoist, to be refitted etc and then will become a static, floating, leisure attraction at a new berth in the  ‘Canning Dock’ Originally she was named the “ MV Overchurch “ – then in 1998 after a major refit she was renamed the “ MV Daffodil “ – withdrawn from service in 2012, the ‘ Daff ‘ as she is affectionately by Ferries staff and enthusiasts, ‘ Lives-On ‘!

Last night after supper we watched the ‘UEFA Europe League Cup Final ‘ over in Baku, Azerbaijan, in a not surprisingly half-full stadium, it's after all 2,500 miles away, by the Caspian Sea, with no direct flights, as Chelsea, emphatically, beat a very poor Arsenal 4-1.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Omelettes of Choice ‘ – Cheese ( grated Mature Cheddar/Parmesan)  for Brenda and ‘Paysanne’ ( small diced/sautĂ©ed Potato, Shallots, Ham, Peas etc) for me, with finely sliced ‘French’ Green Beans and Baked Potatoes.

 Friday is our ‘ Fish n’ Chip Supper Night ‘ – Saturday will be a ‘ Steak Night’ and then on Sunday, no ‘Roast’ as I’m making my now famous ‘Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto ‘!

We will be catching up with all the ‘Quiz Shows’ that we follow later, last night we watched, at the same time as the football, the final episode of “ The Blitz: Britain on Fire “ – the most moving so far, as it updated all the stories that is showed, the mother, who survived, but lost her young baby and two of her sons, when I bomb had a direct hit on the ‘Anderson’ shelter that she was in, the celebrity couple, who stayed in their house and were killed, the Captain of the ‘ SS Marakand’ who survived the large blast, despite standing only 100 feet away, he carried on at sea and retired to the Wirral!

The ‘Senior Doctor & Matron’- despite both being badly injured, and carrying on working, who survived the parachute bomb hitting their Hospital, killing over 80 patients & staff, especially in the ‘Maternity Ward’ where mothers & babies died, one mother survived and found her baby boy, she made her way home, with help, across Liverpool to her house, just in her nightdress, with bare feet, where her young daughter welcomed her back. It was her telling the story 78 years later, sat on a settee, as the picture widened her younger brother was sat next to her! The ‘ Baby’ rescued from the ‘Maternity Ward’!!
