This morning I was up early as I was due
out for our weekly shopping, ‘ Reina’ ended up staying with us for the night so
she’s being picked up this evening, next week she’s back with us from Monday/
Thursday as Lee & Daniela have the long bank holiday weekend off ( due to
working in Gibraltar )
Today at the moment its a little overcast
and cloudy, no doubt the sun will break through later, the weekend is settled
but a little cooler and the start of the ‘ Semana Santa’ week is going to be
wet but from Thursday to Sunday its will be warm a & sunny for the main
parades in the village.
I shot down to the local market for some
fresh flowers before heading down to Sabinillas, I called into the bank before
stopping at the English Bookshop for the local newspapers, next I did the main
shop in ‘ Mercadona’ and called into ‘ Super Sol’ for the English essentials on
the way back up the hill to the village.
After unpacking I got this evenings supper
ready, “ Cushions of Hake Fillet Duglere “ which we are having with Garden Peas
and Parsley New Potatoes, the ‘ Duglere’ sauce is a White Wine ( thanks Brenda
!) cream sauce with Onions & ‘Concasse’ Tomatoes ‘( Skinned, de-pipped & diced!) See Brenda's tray below !
Yesterday afternoon the racing from the ‘
Cheltenham Festival’ was even more exciting and today’s final day is the high
spot of the week when they race for the famous ‘ Gold Cup’ I will catch the
Grand Prix practise from Melbourne a little later, last night at Old Trafford
Liverpool drew with Manchester Utd 1-1 and won on aggregate 1-3 to go in the
final eight for the ‘ UEFA Europa Cup’
After supper we watched another documentary
on BBC 2 “ The Secret History of my Family “ that we caught last week, it was
very interesting and as the story unfolded about two women from different
backgrounds back in the 1880s, the two sides of the family told the history and
brought us up to date about their lives now.
The late film was “ In the Electric
Mist “from 2009, a mystical drama and was filmed in the swamps around New
Orleans; it stars Tommy Lee Jones, playing his usual Sheriff/Detective part,
with John Goodman as the ‘ baddie’ Peter Sarsgaard, Kelly McDonald, Ned Beatty
and my favourite ‘ Southern Belle’ Mary Steenburgen!
The Liverpool pictures below, today, show a
different view of the ‘ Royal Liver Building’ which shows clearly the two ‘Liver
Birds’ and the other picture is an unusual view taken from on the River Mersey with a picture from 1895 of Lime Street and St Georges Hall.
