No rest for the wicked this morning, we
were up bright & early and after grabbing a quick cup of tea/toast we shot
out on our travels down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping; I called into
the bank first and then Brenda went into the English Bookshop to post a
birthday card ( guess who?) - collect the local papers and an wedding
anniversary card for Andrew & Karen ( Castel Radio FM ) which we dropped
off at their house ( The studio!) in Castillo de la Duquesa.
Our main shop was in ‘Mercadona’ before
calling into the English Butchers in Duquesa Marina for some ‘ goodies’ and
finally we stopped at the local market at the end of the promenade for some
fresh flowers after passing Sally Ann’s, Mano & Ann daughter, shop ‘ Sabby
Chic Antiques’ which has just won the second prize in the ‘Xmas Shop Window Competition’(
200 Euros!) Speaking of the Euro, at the moment its at its lowest in nearly two
years after the market ‘wobble’ in China and the price of Oil crashing! (The
cost of petrol here in Spain is the lowest in Europe at the moment – as a
bonus!) This is not good news as our monthly Pension cycle is due in the next
two weeks! Watch this space.
Today its very windy with a still breeze
coming in across from the Atlantic & up from the Mediterranean so is a lot
colder than normal for this time of the year, we can’t complain as over in the
UK up ‘North’ in Skelton Den & Josie are in the middle of a snowy winter
and down in North Wales in Colwyn Bay Tim & Thea are being hit by storms
and heavy seas crashing over the promenade where Tim walks his dog ‘Jasper’!! See
the pictures below.
For our supper this evening we are having my famous ‘Seafood Risotto’ made with Cod, Mussels, Prawns & Gambas, Octapus etc in a savoury Saffron Rice with diced vegetables.See below.
Tomorrow night we are having grilled ‘Entrecote Steak’ with ‘Frits’ and then on Sunday its time for the ‘Sexton Brunch/ Mixed Grill’ with Pork Sausage, Smoked Bacon, Calves Liver, Steak, Chorizo, Mushrooms, Tomato, sauteed Potatoes & ‘Campo’ Fried eggs! Not forgetting the ‘Heinz Baked Beans’ on the side!!
Listening to ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2 & on the WWW’ the other day Andrew played a
track/version of the old Ike & Tina Turner classic ‘Nutbush City Limits’
but sung by an ‘Helluva’ American lady ‘Blues/Rock & Role’ singer,
songwriter & musician “ Beth Hart “
with ‘ Joe Bonamassa’ on guitar. Please
listen to her music ASAP as she rocks and sings like a young Janis Joplin, I
will try to post a sample of her music later!! Watch this space.
This evening after supper we are going to
channel hop over in English TV, last night we ended up watching on a Spanish commercial
channel the third in the ‘Bourne Trilogy’
- which we read many years ago, with Matt Damon in the title role.
Earlier I found on a ‘Facebook’ page a video
of a ‘footplate view’ of one of the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ on the ‘Welsh
Highland Railway’ from Caernarfon to Porthmadog ( 25 miles ) passing
Baddegelert and thought the ‘Aberglaslyn Pass’ to join up with the Ffestiniog
Railway, its on a ‘fast forward/speeded up setting’ - on a beautiful summers
day in North Wales & Snowdonia – try and watch it, for the scenery alone!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
