SATURDAY 18th/ JULY 2015.
We had a 'Helluva' night out in sunny Manilva on the 'staff's' night off! We first went along to 'Bar Castillo' were Juan looked after us very well ,as usual; we sat in the cool evening air, as the bar is on the shady site of the street and took in the sights & sounds of the village as it comes out to play!
We both had two small Tapas each along with our usual drinks,as we were enjoying them three young men came along and asked us if we could get them a taxi down to Sabinillas, it turned out that they were from 'Norway but spoke very good English, just a minute before Brian has passed in his car with his daughter who is Norwegian, she's here on holiday for week as Brian's mum & dad are over from Runcorn for the same week!
So we sorted the taxi out and had a good chat with them,Daniel & Christian are brothers and their friend Martin are staying in the village for a few days in an apartment,we advised then to move their car this morning as the police have put the sign's up to say the Call Mar is closed for the next two days!
We then came back along to 'Bar Rojas' where Kieno also looked after us in his usual proficient way; Brenda had a small 'Pork Montadito' and I had the 'House Combo' of Pork Loin a la Plancha with with sauteed Green Peppers, fresh Patatas Fritas and topped with a Campo Fried Egg! Both perfect!
As we were finishing our drinks, it was then 11-30 pm, our new found Irish friends came up from Bodega Augustine, their local, and sat down with us us for another drink,or two - Mick & Ilona along with their two small children, they live in the top of the village and used to be neighbours of Mano & Anna so they know all our English and local friends in the village. they are very good company and we had a good laugh with them, we made our way back down Calle San Vicente feeling no pain, they walked down to see the new building as Mick is a builder and we were still talking to them at 2-00 o'clock this morning! Nice meeting you and we are looking forward to seeing you again, soon!
This morning we were looking forward to a nice lie in, we were wrong, the workmen arrived at 7-45 am and made a hell of a racket, we are not impressed and will be making are thoughts clear on Monday morning to the solicitors!
Meanwhile its Stage 14 of the 'Tour de France' from Rodez to Mende over 178 kms.
Its another glorious day here in sunny Manilva and the forecast over the weekend and for next week is for more of the same and getting hotter; this evening its the 'Flamenco Fashion Show' in Calle Mar in front of the Town Hall where the stage is, it starts at 9-00 pm so we are having our supper a little early.
'Entrecote Steak' cooked 'Med-Rare' on the hot Griddle Plate with sauteed Baby Mushrooms, a Baked Potato on the side with a Mixed Salad - we will then wander up to join in the festivities! The street is closed for two days so there must be something happening tomorrow - watch this space.
This morning they have been ringing the new bells on the 'Inglasia Santa Ana Church' - we did not hear them but have just watched on Facebook a video of then in action! Brenda has just been down to our local shop in our street and says that she could just hear them! 'Chispa' has just come calling looking for any of her friends to play with, for the next three weeks little princess 'Reina' is back with us for five days a week so they will have lots of time then!
Next week we have no plans again until Sunday when its the 'Festival de Santa Ana' - the Patron saint of the village - it all takes place in the Church and then in the evening there is parade of the tableau led by the 'Manilva Brass Band' along Calle Mar- we will set up shop no doubt in Bar Rojas for a grandstand seat!
We will be having our 'Happy Hour' cocktails up on whats left of our roof terrace this afternoon, reading and listening to our local radio station 'Castle Radio FM 89.2'
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
