SUNDAY 19th/ JULY 2015.
We finally had our good long lie in this morning until the new bells of 'Santa Ana Church' started ringing, well it is Sunday! They sound rather nice here in Calle Mar but I don't know if 'Big Brian' will be impressed when he is on nights as he lives just around the corner!!
Its another fine day in sunny Manilva and the forecast for next week is for more of the same and getting hotter - we will survive! See below - Spain today!!
We are having an easy day today,just taking things as they come, Brenda is pottering on the hunt to find something to do and I'm upstairs in the office on the WWW. sorting out the World; I read the newspapers on-line including the main Spanish newspaper 'El Pais' translated, the Daily Mail ( sorry Josie!) BBC News,CNN News etc before catching up with the E-Mails & Facebook.
Last night after supper we wandered up to Calle Mar to watch the 'Flamenco Fashion Show' on the stage in front of the Town Hall and in the street,it was packed with the whole village out in its finest and as usual it started late! See below;
All the Bars were doing a roaring business and we found a table on the street in front of 'Bar Rojas' where Josie came and joined us.
Which tuned out to be just right as after the first part of the show the lights dropped and the lay- bay in front of Bar Rojas behind us was flood lighted and to a great Fanfare an "Andalusian Horse" - 'Pura Raza Espanola' appeared with rider along with a 'Flamenco Dancer' to perform together! It was spectacular to say the least and the whole village was mesmerized by the whole performance - see the pictures above.
The Fashion Show then continued until late in the evening as all the families ate & drank.in the cool night air until well after midnight,I also did some 'Networking' as I introduced my self to a couple of the new Councilors and at the same time the Blog! I must get some cards printed!!
At lunchtime after showering we went up to the bank in Calle Mar for some cash,on the way the Padre was sat outside 'Bar Rojas' with his family for lunch so I congratulated on his new 'Bells'! He has invited me to go with him and he will take me up the Church tower to see the two Bells!! Watch this space.
On the way back we could not resist stopping at 'Bar Castillo' for a cool drink, all the Paella had gone but our friend Juan ( the Tiler) gave his to Brenda ! A English family came along so we recommended that they try some of the Tapas, Jason & Isobel and their three children are here on holiday staying in a Villa below the village as we left Juan brought then some of his Empanades to try! Nice to meet you.
For our supper this evening we are having 'Escalopes of Chicken Breast' cooked on the Griddle plate,dry with some dry sauteed sliced Baked Potato,finely sliced Green Beans and a 'Chefs' smear of my famous Tomato Salsa!
Today's Stage 15 of the 'Tour de France' is from Mende to Valence over 183 kms - watch out for the the 'Manx Missile' - Mark Cavendish in a sprint finish!
We will be up on the roof terrace for our 'Happy Hour' cocktails and then after supper we will catch up with all the news,sport and weather details before finding a good film to watch.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
