THURSDAY 16th/ JULY 2015. " FESTIVAL DE LA VIRGEN DEL CARMEN"
Well we had a 'Helluva' night yesterday evening down in Duquesa Marina; we set off early and found a 'Charity' Underground car park open right next to the entrance to the port which is run by two ladies and is open from 6-00 pm until 2-00 am! We walked in to the port, and decided to treat ourselves to an early supper at the excellent 'Restaurante Marcues' over looking the Marina.
We were not disappointed, Brenda had the 'Grilled Turbot' & I had a 'Grilled Sole' which is filleted at the table,they were both cooked to perfection and seasoned to taste,a half bottle of 'Vina de Sol' was just right for Brenda and I had my usual as we took in the perfect evening. See the pictures above.
We then went for a walk along to the 'Flea Market' next to the Boast Yard were Brenda found a nice bright Yellow Summer dress ideal for the beach/pool/house - all she needs now is a Yellow Bikini - she tells me! We ended up in 'Heaven' - the Cocktail & Tapas Bar! - right next to the stage in front of the crowds.We bumped into lots of our Spanish friends from the village at the same time.
The concert started a little late,as usual,the first part was the local 'Dance School' for young children and then the second half was the 'Manilva School of Music Band' with the ' Profesores - Teachers' along with our friend Isobel singing,they played a long 'set' of all English classic 'sing-a-long-dance' hits from the past! She dedicated one song to us. " Love is in the Air"! See below.
A bit like 'Cinderalla' we had to be back up to the village as the underground car park is closed between 12-00 - 6-00 am where we keep the car.As we were thanking Isobel & Fernando, the conductor, we were introduced to the new Councilor for Culture,Alba.
This morning 'Reina' was dropped off early as usual for the day,it sounds like she will be with us for 5 days a week,for the next few weeks as Daniela's friend, who also has her, is going on holiday back to England. 'Chispa' came early & joined us for breakfast and then they both played around the house as we showered.
We are keeping a low profile today and I will post some pictures later of the 'Festival de La Virgen Del Carmen' See the preview below;
This afternoon I will be following the 12th stage of the 'Tour de France' - the last day in the Pyrenees - from Lannemezan to the Plateau de Beille over 195 kms with three climbs before the final one up to the top! See below;
For supper this evening I'm making my special Ham &Broad Bean Frittata' which we will have with a little Mixed salad; it will then be time to channel hop after the news to find something to watch.See below;
PS; Please note that we are are not online at the moment on the 'Skype Video' due to the large 'Dell PC' finally biting the dust after ten year service! Watch this space.
PPS; The Euro has just reached its 7 year all time high and now stands at 1-43 to the £! Good news as we still have two Pensions still to arrive in our Spanish Bank AC this month!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
