SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY

THURSDAY 11th JULY 2013.

After our tea and toast this morning we went and checked out the car for oil, coolant and water before the sun hits the little square where we keep it parked behind the house; I then made tonight’s supper, “ Estofado ” – Beef & Vegetable Stew – ‘SCOUSE’ in other words! See the picture above of the ingreadients,12 vegetables including Lentils and White ‘Falafel’ Beans, the diced Potatoes go in later, the diced Beef is out local butchers ‘Finest Stewing Steak’

Brenda has just been on the phone to Norah as Jack and Lyn have moved there from Jenny’s, she was confirming their arrival time back in Australia next weekend 19TH/21ST July as their family are making the arrangements to pick them up from Melbourne airport; they have been out and about on the Wirral and yesterday they went up to the ‘Lake District’ – it was ‘Closed – Full !!’

We are waiting for the handyman to come back to fix the bed today ,he called in yesterday morning to check it and find out what was needed; Brenda is in one of her cleaning/washing moods so as you see I’ am up in the office catching up on the WWW after having a nice cool shower!

The handyman arrived after lunch to fix the bed,he glued and re-screwed the frame and said 'No action' for two days! He is going to recommend that we need a new Divan bed as this one is on it's last legs and is antique!!

This afternoon Brenda will go up on the roof terrace later and I will be watching downstairs on the TV the ‘Tour de France’ stage 12 – it’s from Fougeres to Tours on the banks of the Loire over 218kms and is another flat stage as you can see above, so it’s an ideal stage for another Mark Cavendish sprint finish/win! Come on the ‘Manx Missile’ show all those ‘ Hooligans ’ from yesterday what’s it’s all about and at the same time beat the two German sprinters!!

Bad news I'am afraid - Cavendish lost on the line by the width of a tire to his arch rival, the German rider Marcel Kittel as you can see in the picture above! It's the German's 3rd win in the tour this year.

Last night after supper I found on the ‘La Sexta’ channel the start of the excellent new series of “ Game of Thrones ” from 2011 – the epic fantasy medieval TV drama series with a cast of thousands! We have seen some of the early episodes last year but then have missed some of the later ones; Sean Bean has literally had the ‘Chop’ I think?! We have spotted in the cast Charles Dance,IainGlen,Oona Chaplin, Michelle Fairley,Emilia Clarke, Rory McEean and the award winning actor Peter Dinkage who plays the dwarf wicked prince!! It was filmed mainly in Northern Ireland and the 3rd season has over 267 cast members and 703 crew members!

Thought for the Day; See above.
