SATURDAY 20th/
JULY 2013.
Well the
folks are now on the plane back to Australia so we wish then a safe and
pleasant flight back to ‘Winter’ in Melbourne, they have their ‘Woolies’ ready
and are changing on the plane, we will call them on Wednesday on the Skype
video after they have had time to catch up with their sleep!
This
morning it is already very hot, too hot for the painter and decorator to start
on the roof terrace; I’ve also given her the weekend off so the plan is to
start rather early on Monday morning as there is a time slot due to the heat
i.e.; first thing in the morning and later in the evening when the sun has
moved off the terrace!
On the
small PC I have connected to the live channel to watch BBCTV and ‘Saturday
Morning Kitchen’ and are at the moment watching the ‘Breakfast Show’ as I’ am
typing the blog on the larger PC! Oh ‘B----r its not on today, live golf has
taken over!! We are lost without the dog coming up to see us; she has been away
on her holidays for nearly three weeks down at the family ‘Campo’ in the valley
below the village.
SPORTS
UPDATE;
It’s
another ‘Helluva’ weekend of sport to follow on TV and the PCs;
The Open
Golf Championship – the leader on the scoreboard is the 49 year old Spanish
golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez, the large cigar smoking, Red wine drinking with ‘Red
hair’ is 1 shot in the lead with Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods on his heels for
today’s third round; Lee Westwood has a 2 shot lead going into the final round over Tiger Woods.
The Second
Ashes Test match at Lord’s – England are dominant as they bowled the
Australians out for 125, their lowest score at Lord’s in over 45 years, they
now lead them by nearly 300 runs!
At the close of play England lead Australia by 566 runs with an unbeaten 178 from Joe Root?!

Motor GP
from the ‘Laguna Seca’ circuit in California – my favorite race as they take on
the hilly course and go down the infamous ‘Corkscrew’ blind bends, Lorenzo and
Pedrosa are back after their crashes two weeks ago in Germany , yesterday the young Honda rider
Marquez was fastest in practice.
The German rider Stefan Bradl is on his first pole position with Marquez who had never ridden at the track before on the second spot.

And
finally;
“The Tour
de France” stage 20 starting in the ‘Haut Savoie’ region in the town of Annecy , the ‘Venice of the Alps ’ due to the canals in the center of
the town and ending up back in Annecy-Semoz just down the road after another
125kms of climbing in the Alps !
Phew!! Six climbs on the shortest and penultimate stage of the tour.
'Lake Annecy' next to the town us the third largest lake in France and is the 'French' part of 'Lake Geneva' - it is also has the cleanest and purest water in France.
Nairo Quintara from Colombia has just won his first stage win in the tour,it won't be his last,he has also at the same time gone second in the overall standings,won the 'Polka Dot'jersey as 'King of the Mountains' and also the 'White' jersey as the best rider under 25! Not a bad day for him!! Chris Froome was third and made another 2min-28sec on Contador - the Spanish rider Joachim Rodriquez was second and goes third in the overall classification ! So Chris Froome has the Yelow jersey on his way to Paris tomorrow and leads by 5min-03secs - a victory parade !!
