SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY

THURSDAY 18th/ JULY 2013.

This morning after our tea and toast I walked the ‘Beach Girl’ to the early bus; its going to be a very hot one today so she has gone down sooner to beat the crowds and the heat! See the picture above under our neighbors ‘Bougainvillea’ !She stayed on the bus to Duquesa and then walked back to Sabinillas along the promenade before she went in for a dip - she has just got back on the 11-30 bus!

I’ am back in the office catching up on the WWW and then checking the e-mails before I bring the blog up to date;

This afternoon it was one of the most exciting stages of the ‘Tour de France’ in years; it goes from Gap to the ‘Infamous’ – “ Alpe-d’Huez ” which has 21 hairpins on the route to the top – the catch is that they are going to climb it twice in the same day! Over 173kms with a very dangerous descent in-between the two assents!! Only one small problem, the weather, it could be heavy rain in the afternoon and they might have to re-organize the route as it would be too dangerous to descend?! Watch this space.

What a stage - the winner was the Frenchman Chistophe Riblon, but more importantly Chis Froome was 7th and ahead of Contador by 57secs which means that he now leads him by 5min-11secs! But the ride of the day goes to Richie Porte who helped his team mate,Froome up the second assent as he went too early and struggled,at one point Porte went back to the team car for an energy bar for Froome!

Also today it’s the start of the 142nd ‘Open Golf Championship’ from Muirfield in Scotland,at the same time down at ‘Lords’ the second Test match between England and Australia for the ‘Ashes’ in a best of five series starts with England 1 up so far!

Tonight for supper we are having a late ‘ Brunch !’ Eggs,Smoked Bacon,English Pork Sausages,Corizo,Tomato and anything else that I can find with Saute Potatoes !!

PS; The paint has nearly reached the roof terrace -let the job begin !!

Thought for the Day; See above.
