LIVERPOOL AND OLD COLWYN ON WEDNESDAY

THURSDAY 18th/ JULY 2013.

We have just found out on Facebook that Jo,Tim and Thea’s daughter graduated yesterday from her University in Liverpool with I think a ‘BA Honours’ -2/1 – more details to follow; We have known Jo all her life,we were with her and Thea on the day she started school, we also used to pick her and her younger brother Ben up, when we were home, from their infants school, it only feels like yesterday!  Happy days and many great memories.!!

The ceremony took place in a rather special setting; ‘Liverpool Cathedral’ or to give it its official name “ Cathedral Church of Christ in Liverpool ” – over fifty year ago my mother and I were confirmed there. The history of the church which took nearly 100 years to build with the distinctive Red sandstone coming from a quarry in Woolton in South Liverpool,is fascinating; it is the second largest cathedral in the world, externally 619ft – its internal length of 160 yards makes it the fifth-largest cathedrals in the world. It is also one of the world’s tallest non-spired church buildings at 331 feet! One more interesting fact and I will then stop; at 220ft above floor level, the thirteen bells are the highest and heaviest ringing peal in the world – now not a lot of people know that!!

Sorry I got a bit carried away, back to Jo  “ Congratulations ” on graduating, we are very proud of you as is your father and mother, your ‘Little’ brother Ben and all the family! See the pictures above. Lots of love from us in a very hot and sunny Manilva. Xxxx

PS; The card will be in the post on Friday !

PPS; The 'Collins English Gem Dictionary' that I still use everyday and is on the shelf besides me,was given to me by my mother as a ' Confirmation' present back in Christmas 1958 !!
