THURSDAY 4th/
JULY 2013.
It was time
for a little lie in this morning until were awoken by the street cleaners jet
washing our street; the council ever month washes down all the streets and
every few months they give special attention to the parts that need it with the
jet wash!
This
morning Brenda has gone down to the beach on the bus as our doctor yesterday
recommended that she bath in sea water from time to time as it would be good
for her circulation especially her legs and feet. The ‘Girl’ as just got back
after her adventure-safe and sound!
In the new
park this morning there was over 12 workmen going at it full pelt, they are
observably aiming to get it finished by September 1ST As you can
see!
I saw her
off on the bus and then came back to the house and into the kitchen to make
another bowl of my now famous Spanish ‘Ensaladilla Rusa’ invented by a Russian
in the late XIX century, I had with Brenda’s help before she left prepared all
the ingredients.
As you can
see I’ am now on the WWW.catching up with
all the news,e-mails etc. On ‘facebook’ last night a picture appeared on the
‘Colwyn Bay Past and Present’ page were I have got my Colwyn Bay pictures from
in the past, it showed the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’in the late 1970s! Lots of
comment have now appeared, all good, including one from a very loyal and hard working
friend Lynda who worked as a waitress for us for many years and now runs a very
successful soft furnishing business in Old Colwyn – she in fact did all the
curtains and blinds in our house in Rhyd-y Foel as one of her first jobs! The
picture is from the late 70s as all the signage is the ones that we put up, the
fountain that I had built, I drew what I wanted on a back off a envelope and
also you can make out our ‘Brown Volvo Estate’ parked in it’s spot! Memories mostly happy!
This
afternoon I will follow on TDP the 6th stage of the ‘Tour de France’
which today starts in Aix-en-Provence and ends up in Montpellier along the
coast of the ‘Languedoc’ region over 177kms – it is a flat sprinters stage so
watch out for another Mark Cavendish win! See the pictures above of the spectacular 'Languedoc' region around Montpellier.
30kms from the finish Mark Cavendish had a nasty fall,he got back on his bike and was over 35 seconds behind the leaders;he managed to get back to the front of the main bunch with the help of his team mates,as they sprinted into Montpellier - but sadly he could only manage 4th after he had expanded so much energy getting back into the race! The German rider Andre Greipel won and Peter Sagan was second, normally both these riders are behind Cavendish in the sprint!! The South African rider Daryl Impey has taken over the Yellow jersey, the first rider from his country to do so.
