SUNNY AND HOT MANILVA THIS TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 16th/ JULY 2013.

As we got up this morning it was sill overcast and grey but by 11-00am when we went for the bus it was very hot! Brenda as you can see was heading off to the beach for a paddle and I went down as well to Sabinillas as I had a few messages to do.

First call was the bank for some’Reddies’ – then I called into the English bookshop to exchange some books, more ‘Patterson’s’ – I then went into the Chinese supermarket and bought a new set of Scales for the bathroom and then stopped and bought the White outside-paint that is on offer at the ‘Ferreteria’s’for the roof terrace! Finally I picked up an English daily paper and went and sat in the square and had a Sausage Buttie and a mug of tea!!

Only one ‘Technical’ problem – the large paint container was too heavy to carry, We were going to catch the bus back up but I knackered my self just getting it to the bus stop, so Brenda went and got a Taxi which brought us home to the front door!

This afternoon I’ am going to watch the ‘Tour de France’ stage 16 which goes from ‘Vaison-la-Romaine’,the capital of the ‘Provence’ region to the classic town of ‘Gap’ – the capital of the ‘Hautes-Alps’ region at the foot of the Alps over undulating terrain, over 168kms.

The rider from Portugal Rui Costa won the stage and there was no change in the overall standings but Contador kept attacking Froome on the last climb and decent into Gap and on one corner he came off his bike and brought Froome off as well ! They both got back on and finished OK - Froome's team mate Richie Porte saw to Froome all day and rode himself into the ground-again!!

For supper this evening we are having Baked Pork Chops with ‘Bretonne’ Potatoes, I picked up this morning from the retail vegetable shop some Yellow Peppers to go with the Green and Red!

“BLUECAZORLA FESTIVAL” 2013;

Last night late on TVE2 I caught one ‘Helluva’ live blues music show for the largest Blues Festival in Spain; it takes place in the ‘Sierra de Cazorla’ in the town outside the city of Jaen which is in the mountains of North Andalusia; It is over three days and the top bands this year were ‘George Thorogood & the Destroyers’- his first visit to Spain and one from the past ‘Nine Below Zero’!!

Last night on the main stage in the ‘Plaza De Torres’ it was a very ‘Hot’ four-piece baking band with an out-of- this- world blues guitar player and a mad man on the ‘Hammond Organ’ – the headline act was a lady blues singer that looked like a full-bodied Tina Turner and sang even better! “Janiva Magness” from Detroit Michigan, she has won many awards including ‘BB King Entertainer of the Year’ and the ‘Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year’ She is one ‘Helluva’ blues singer !!See the picture above to see what I mean!The band was Matt Telu on drums,Gary Davenport on bass,Jim Alfrenson on the Hammod and the guitarist was Zack Zunis.

Thought for the Day; See above.
