MANILVA.

WEDNESDAY 6th/ THURSDAY 7th/ MARCH 2013.

We decided to have a little lie in on Wednesday morning as it was overcast and damp; Brenda suddenly heard the front door rattling at about 9-00am – it was the dog, she had got out early and shot up here so we dried her off and for a change she had breakfast with us! She loves Brown Toast and Butter and her Biscuits dipped in tea!! We then showered and got ourselves together as Brenda was going down to Sabinillas on the 1-o’clock bus as she had an appointment at her hairdressers for the full works;Cheta stayed with me and I took her home later. As Brenda was catching the bus I went down to the Police Station and dropped off a Photo Paper print of the Chief of Police and his son – from the blog - which he has framed and it goes on the wall in his office – good PR!

In the evening we walked around to Andy’s house which is above the football ground, in fact you have ‘Grandstand’ view from his kitchen especially when the flood lights are on – as they were! Marie had prepared a very typically Spanish meal; to start with we has assorted Tapas,two sorts of Semi-Curado Cheese,Iberica Ham, Tortilla served just warm,at it’s best and her special small ‘Vol-au-Vents with a very tasty savory filling. For our main course we had flattened Fillets of Pork cooked in a creamy Onion Salsa with her special thin sliced Potatoes with Onions and Peppers baked in the oven – delicious and very tasty! The Red wine flowed as Andy is an excellent host who keeps you topped up at all times. We then had local strawberries with whipped cream  and to round off the evening Marie made her now famous ‘Pina Colada’s’served in large Brandy glass’s!! We then retired to the couch and watched a very gory comic book ( Marvel) action film from 2004 called “ The Punisher ” – the title part is played by Thomas Jane ?! and John Travolta is unrecognizable as the bad guy with Roy Scheider and Will Patton in the main supporting roles.

Andy has been on his PC and researched a channel that I gave him the details off; later this afternoon I’ am going to update and download it onto the large PC as it will give me all the English TV channels live and lots more beside. The systems over here that people have,Freesat/Freeview is going off line in the summer as the new satellite comes into use – this means that from this weekend I will be able to watch ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ live and next week I will be able to follow the ‘Cheltenham Festival’ on Ch4 !!  I could also connect it to the Large TV.  Thanks Andy and Marie for a very nice and enjoyable evening – we shall return !

This morning, Thursday we have been across to the hospital on the far side of Marbella for my second appointment this week; this was with the Consultant Dermatologist who had all my results in front of her from my blood and Urine tests and the Bi-Opsy. She has upped the dosage on the steroid cream for my legs and also supplied us with some moisturizing cream which has to be administered by my nurse! It was not a blood circulation problem as our doctor suggested but something called ‘Prurigo’ – a return check up consultation has been arranged for the end of May – watch this space.

On the way back from the hospital we stopped at the English butchers and picked up a very large slice of Rump steak, some Pork Sausages and homemade Sausage rolls for the basketball trip tomorrow night, Marie asked if she could join us so this morning we called into the sports office to get another ticket, Mario our local councilor called in at lunchtime and has just confirmed that they have arranged another coach due to demand! This evening we are having flattened Breast of Turkey cooked on the griddle with Sauté Potatoes and will then catch our ‘Spanish’ soap on TVE1.The late film was " Hostage" from 2005 starring Bruce Willis as an ex SWAT officer now working in a small town as the Chief of Police - very gripping!

PS; The pictures of the flash flood have just been posted on Facebook,the heavy rain has not stopped for the last five days until late this afternoon-the forecast is for some more but the temp is up to 22/23 degs !

Thoughts for the Day;

Television is more interesting than people. If it were not,we would have people standing in the corners of our rooms.

Television enables you to be entertained in your home by people you wouldn’t have in your home.
